The following Acceptable Use Policy has been approved by all five founding wizards of EquestriaMUCK: EconomistBrony, Derpy, Borrica, ProgrammerPony, and HostBrony. It will formally take effect as of the official opening date - Wednesday, March 7th, 2012.
For the purposes of this document “we” refers to the wizards of EquestriaMUCK, “the MUCK” and “MUCK” refers to EquestriaMUCK, located at equestria.kaitain.org Port 2700, “you” and “the player” refer to any player connecting to the MUCK’s server either as a guest or with a permanent character.
1) All MUCK policy is guided by the Two Overarching Rules, located at equestriamuck.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=generalpolicies&action=display&thread=29 - including this Acceptable Use Policy (AUP). In the event something is unclear or not mentioned in formal policy, apply these two rules first. All players are expected to abide by the spirit of these rules at all times.
2) We take the stance that, in the case of all infractions of the AUP or complaints from other players, all players are considered innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. It is also not the current policy of the MUCK to investigate private player behavior, unless requested to do so in a formal complaint. In the case of a complaint or infraction, it will be up to the headwiz, EconomistBrony, to decide the proper course of action. In all cases, the ultimate responsibility of resolution will fall to EconomistBrony in his position as headwiz and chief administrator of the MUCK.
3) The “rating” for roleplay and other in-character (IC) interaction in primary public areas of the MUCK (such as the market, the square, and other chief areas of congregation) is encouraged to be kept “PG”, as established by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). This means that harsh language and expletives, use of or reference to drugs and other addictive substances, and use of or reference to sexual content is to be avoided in ordinary roleplay that can be readily viewed by others. This is in order to preserve the child-friendly nature of the universe, and allow accessibility to younger fans of the show.
4) The “rating” for all public out-of-character (OOC) interaction and all IC interaction in non-primary public areas (basically, anywhere a player could encounter the events by accident, such as stumbling upon the area) is required to be kept “PG-13”, also as established by the MPAA. This means that careful judgment must be taken at all times with regards to harsh language and reference to drugs or sexual content. For example, this means that double-entendres or light swearing is fine in moderation. Severe vulgarities, profligate use of swear words (cursing up a storm), and direct references to sex and/or drugs is not. Please note that this is not an all-inclusive list of activities.
5) The “rating” for all other interaction (such as private interaction in secure rooms) is required to be kept to a maximum rating of “R”, as established by the MPAA. However, it is not currently the policy of the MUCK wizzes to investigate the private on-goings of players. Accordingly, we will only investigate or act when a complaint has been filed.
6) We hold a zero tolerance stance on harassment of any kind, whether verbal, physical, or sexual (this includes trolling and other malicious behavior). Anyone found to be harassing another player or a related party will be banned permanently from the MUCK and all their characters will be toaded.
7) Unused characters will be purged on an as-needed basis until a regular interval is decided upon by the MUCK administration. All characters with an offline time of greater than six months will be purged from the system upon a purge. Players will be notified two weeks before the purge occurs if their character is at risk. Additionally, an announcement will be made on the forum and other official mediums.
8) Non-pony characters (griffons, breezies, sea serpents, etc.) will only be created upon receiving a short application with the character’s name, description, and reason for existence in the MUCK’s universe. Thoughtfulness is emphasized over length – since these characters exist rarely in the show, they should have a definitive reason to exist on the MUCK. The procedure for this will this will be decided upon opening. Until then, all applications are to be sent to the official wiz e-mail account at wizstaff.friendshipismagicmuck@gmail.com
9) All non-wiz characters are limited to building two (2) personal rooms each, either on or off grid. This building quota may be lifted on a character-by-character basis by the wizzes upon receiving a legitimate reason and the player showing a suitable amount of building skill.
10) The MUCK will collect a certain minimum of personal information. This includes the character’s name, an e-mail address (used for password resets and character purge warnings), a security question and answer (used only for password resets), and a statement that the player is over 13 years of age. This data will be stored securely and will not be released to a third party for any reason. All players must be at least 13 years of age to have a character on the MUCK. Any player who is discovered not to be of sufficient age will have their account frozen until their 13th birthday.
11) Do not share your password with anyone, even someone claiming to be a MUCK wiz. In the event your password is lost or forgotten, a wizard will reset your password and send a temporary one to the e-mail we have officially on file with us after answering a security question.
12) The MUCK’s administrators will cooperate with all bona fide law enforcement officials to the extent required under U.S. and/or international law.
