Place: Celestia's Balcony, Day.
Weather: Thunderstorm.
Cast: Firefly, Virga.

VIRGA
Virga waited as long as he needed to for Firefly to at least return to the point at which she could walk. Being as she was the tough Pegasi she was, he appointed a place for a quiet discussion for he knew it would be quiet, and nobody would disturb them. That specific location was Celestia's personal balcony itself; as Virga was her private guard above the Royal Guard, it was permitted; he permitted this arrangement one might say. The icy Pegasi stood, looking into the rainy day that had befallen Canterlot, as the rain wet his fur and mane.
FIREFLY
Firefly could walk, yes, but it was not a steady one. She was just to stubborn to accept the doctor's help and she was NOT going to ride a wheeled seat either. She silently and carefully moves from Luna's chambers to Celestia's, cupping an ear. She never liked coming in here, it always felt ..stuffy, officious. Just plain creepy to her. She sees Virga and walks over to the balcony.
VIRGA
For once Virga didn't present himself in the image of one who fully assimilated into Equestrian life; something about him today was different as he stood in the rain, as a living piece of ancient lore long ago lost and so misplaced by time that he was forgotten. Compared to the bright palace interior, and even the colorful Canterlot and the weather--itself colorful, he was misplaced and quite...relic. Perhaps it was simply how his mane strung about when wet. "Halloa (Good day), Firefly," he whispered across the balcony to her, his voice as silky and otherworldly as it ever was.
FIREFLY
Firefly pauses at the voice. "That, is new." she comments, sitting and resting along the railing, looking out over the city. "More memories of the past come to the surface have they?" she asks, flicking an ear lightly. "Always thought there was something regal about you."
VIRGA
"I've remembered," he said, "but only part of it." He too looked to the city, which felt more alien and disjointed than ever. Even Cloudsdale was unfamiliar, which he admitted upon Celestia asking him the night so long ago when she asked him to become her private guard. There were many things that troubled him while away with the extended guard on the border, and the past was one of them for it was a great unknown. He shuffled his wings a tad and turn an ear to her. "The answer as to why I fell from the sky is as much of stories as the demise of Discord the first time and the banishment of Night Mare Moon the Ponyville citizens speak." He paused for a moment, letting the rain do the speaking for the time being until he directly eyed her. "But we're not here for my story today...you wanted to see me."
FIREFLY
Firefly says "Yes." she nods. "As time passes...and our tasks take on shape and form...our paths are drifting apart. I serve a princess who is likely to drop a mountain on you for giggles. You serve the other Princess, and your tasks keep you from me as strongly as my own keep me from you. I had hoped..I truly did, the Princesses would not mind us so much if we decided to try to pair off in a more official way...but I just don't see it happening in our lifetimes...and I think your lifetime will be much longer than mine." smiling a bit. "You're no regular pegasus, you are far above any I have seen." tilting her head a bit. "And your memories....the more you recover them, the further away you feel."
VIRGA
Drifting. Even he felt it now, and he didn't like it. The softening in his face said it all. He wanted as much as she did to pair officially, but their tasks were as opposite as the forces which their Princesses controlled. "Above, perhaps to some eyes," he said, his ears forward. No matter how soaked and stringy his mane become for the rain, he maintained composure and didn't shake off like a simpleton. "What you say is a regal statement, blunt without being blunt." And then her put a hoof forward and approached, snapping his wings with such a force, the circuit grid of his aura briefly flashed, and the rain shortly glimmered about his bulk. His eeriely flexible wings slowly curled their way around Firefly as they had times before, still just as gentle and warm despite the cold. "We'd bare no colts for I am low. Thus is the cost of the power I wield, that if I ever sire it is of fortune," he said. "But even if our duties take us from each other, we are still unified by the Sun and Moon. As our Princesses are opposites, so are we--myself of the water and yourself of lightning."
FIREFLY
Firefly closes her eyes and enjoys the rain, not being able to fly among her storm clouds and feel it was almost unbearable by now. "Yes, and lightning and water, while always close, never mix well." giving a soft laugh and leaning into his wings. "I speak around my Princess Luna. Tact and a graceful word is a must, as you yourself know well her temper and swiftly changing moods." then looks over the city again. "Also spoken truly regal, as we are all united in life no matter where...or when...we come from."
VIRGA
"My home will always be open to you," he whispered. "If you ever need a refuge." He kept his wings about her for several moments more and slowly released her as he stepped back and once more eyed Canterlot. A bolt of lightning flashed in the distance, the rain sang, and the thunder soon roared. "You've done the most, face to face, for me. Therefore, it is time you learned how I came to be."
FIREFLY
Firefly watches the lightning with a forlorn look, knowing it wasn't one of hers. Right now, drained of all magic, even the very basic Pegasus magics..she could not even sense the lightning, nor feel the skies above, the clouds. "Hmmm." she smiles, "I have to assume this storm is yours?" looking over to him.
VIRGA
"It is," he said, offering her a smile. "I made it for you." He spread his wings once more and tightly folded them against his back, the color in his fur having desaturated just a touch. Perhaps it was his mood, or he spent extra reserves for this storm; somewhere in there it did upset him they wouldn't be a mated pair due to their tasks but he kept it hidden, very well quashed underneath layers of comfort that they were still close in some way. "The place I come from is one that only Celestia is likely to have heard."
FIREFLY
Firefly says "That makes sense...until I came here I had never heard of Celestia...much less anything of the history here." closing her eyes, letting the rain run along her ears. "And thank you, for the storm. At least I know there is no way I can be blamed for it by the locals in Cantersnot." making a face. "I have not the ability for a while." letting out a quiet breath. "Some things are meant to be...others, are not. It is just the way of things. Still, you are a bright spot in my life not to be forgotten." angling an ear. "So what have you remembered thus far?"
VIRGA
Explaining something of this nature would have the local magickal community intrigued, that is if any of them were to hear it and certainly Virga intended to not let that get out. The story he had to tell was not exactly a good one, despite the good things it brought here. "I came to the Royal Palace in the dead of night, awakened with broken wings midfall with not a cause in sight or sound for those sights and sounds are far removed," he said. "One time, long ago, I was a Dragonslayer. But also, I was among the Wonderbolts of the times, long before they became the racers they are today."
FIREFLY
Firefly says "I have heard of them...Rainbow Dash, the Element of Loyalty, is always going on and on about them. Fluttering showboaters with no true skill other than dazzling the locals." making a face. "At least that is what is become of them today, not to make light of the past glory their ancestors have." tilting her head. "I was a dragon slayer back home. Demons and Dragons, whatever the Overlord sent at us. For me, those days are gone. The demons defeated and their leader exiled back to the shadow realms for all eternity."
VIRGA
Virga smiled quite a bit about these common past they shared. "As one of several Wonderbolt leaders--back then there were multiple groups before unification and disarmament--I served the Regent. In the regent's court was a very talented Unicorn...bookish, but athletic, able to keep up despite being regulated to the ground as at that time spells to make non-Pegasi fly didn't exist." He slowly eyed Firefly then, for there was a similarity between them. "Affinity for lightning, like yourself."
FIREFLY
Firefly nods and listens quietly, watching the storm outside while he spoke. "I served Princess Selena, who granted me the magic I have, for the wars. Afterwards, I served still, but in peaceful ways. Weather in remote locations normal weather teams could not dare attempt.
VIRGA
"It was not meant to be," he said, echoing her own words about themselves as he also watched the rain. "I fell in love with her, but one day en route to the citadel I found my fellow Wonderbolts slaughtered, the guards too, and the Regent. An opposing, self-proclaimed King had overthrown him, and he had a great fear of those with Marks. My...Precious...was never allied to my Regent. We became enemies; I fled, she chased. The other Wonderbolts groups left me for myself, and some even hunted me, afraid for their own existence."

VIRGA
Virga paused for a moment, but he continued either way, eventually. "The new Regent wanted me dead, and though a few of my former allies came at me, I never wielded lethal force against them. It didn't help that I was made a scapegoat for my own Regent's murder. Eventually, I was caught, subdued by Her magicks, and placed on a vessel back home. On the ocean. Their mistake, putting me near water. I knew Her magicks too well to be trapped forever. As talented as she was, She made several mistakes in my binding, almost like She wanted me to escape. When I did, I turned the seas into my weapon, began breaking the ship and turning its strengths against itself."
FIREFLY
Firefly says "Well played." nodding. "A poor choice on her part..unless, as you say, she knew you'd find a way." flicking an ear quietly. "But that still does not bring you forward...here."
VIRGA
"She was determined to not let me escape," he said, his eyes closing half way as he stared off into the distance. "The weakness in the bindings was intentional...She wanted me to escape, kill the crew, just to toy with me. I knew She was talented, but she took an interest too far in chaotic magic. Her idea, given how much terror I supposedly incited, was to erase me from history before I could use my full talents against anyone. I used my Talent to defend against her onslaught. It broke my wings after a lengthy standoff. As much as She struck at me, not once since she betrayed my Regent had I struck against Her. Even then, as I was crippled, I still didn't. The last piece of magic I knew Her to cast went awry...it froze me in time, randomized the outcome of where I'd awaken. Because of poorly kept records, I've no idea how many years passed as Her name is not in the history books either."
FIREFLY
Firefly says "All I can add, is I know a demon rules Ponyland for 500 years....then it was quiet, and now I know of Discord's meddling, then and now, then come the Sisters we serve, ruling for a great long time, as such teh ancient palace lies in ruins in the Great Forest."
VIRGA
Virga remained quiet after that point, unsure of what else to say. His fur, mane, tail, and wings were even more discolored than they were before he spoke. He wasn't a normal Pegasi, though what was normal when magick existed? For once, he felt cold. Speaking about this was difficult, but also coupled with the fact their duties would separate them made it more. No matter how much he tried not showing his feelings, what they had to do hurt Virga.
FIREFLY
Firefly noses Virga gently. "Let it go. You can not hide your feelings from me." smiling softly. "I know the storm taxes you, yet you do it for my sake. I have enjoyed it greatly, but I must rest before I collapse on my hooves. I'd not want to have you explaining that to either princess." giving a soft laugh and smile. "Just because we can not pair off officially does not mean we can not remain friends. From what the Elements tell me, this is a rather important thing here." then sighs. "And we better still be able to at least enjoy a 'your princess so fat' lunch now and then."
VIRGA
"I think many things now that are upsetting," he said, returning the nosing. "Us, our inability to be official, but also whatever became of Aethera. The spell she used, she didn't survive casting it. In the end, she played all sides, even me, to ensure me a life where I don't have to run. Loyalty that extreme, hidden under false betrayal and broken wings, untold to me until the very end."
FIREFLY
Firefly says "Hmm." nodding as she gets up, shakily. "Indeed. A grande sacrifice compared to ours, but, life does move on. I know there are several fillies that eye you often, I have no fear that you will do just fine in this land and time." making her way back to Luna's chambers slowly, flicking her tail. "Sleep summons I fear, whether I am ready or not."
VIRGA
The more he regained himself, the more distant he became. His instinct was to aid her to Luna's Chambers, but she wouldn't want to look weak in front of anyone. Others eyed him, but did it really help anything? He waited until Firefly disappeared behind the door frame, and only then did the silent tears flow, disguised by the rain.
FIREFLY
Firefly on the other hoof, was much the same, but only behind closed doors. She was trained to conceal anything she wished, weak as she was, it took everything she had to do it. Quite so in point that once she closed the doors, she only makes it to the rug by the fireplace, laying down, using the last of her strength for now to keep her feelings from Luna, and passes out. Of everything she'd faced before, this was one of the hardest tasks she's ever undertaken. It had to be done, given how their lives were going, there was no other way.
