VIRGA
Virga hadn't been seen around the palace since around the time of the first warning across Canterlot and the erection of Shining Armor's shielding. Likewise, he failed to make an appearance at the wedding, and further had failed in his duty to protect Celestia from threats. That was his duty as part of the Sun Guard, the Princess's own elite guard. Even after the city and Equestria had settled after the Changelings, he still hadn't been seen among the Palace guards or even the commoners living in Ponyville. The Pegasi, instead, had been confined to his solitary home in the Fane atop Everfree, quite incapable of flight once again and drained. It wasn't broken wings; quite simply it was exhaustion. The dark, ancient pony lay near a small throne in Celstia's quarters, sprawled on its stone dais. He was covered in hundreds of gashes and bite marks; his feathers were roughted and his mane had grown out. In the dark place, he looked nearly dead, but was quite alive...the Fane, his home from which he came, was the last secure place in the entire land during the invasion (aside from certain Palace rooms of course), ironically in the most dangerous place nearest to Ponyville.
CELESTIA
Celestia returns to her chambers, landing on the balcony outside before folding in her wings and walking into her chambers. Stepping in, she looks over to the crumpled pegasus lying on the floor - and a little frown darts over her expression. "Virga. I have not seen you since... well, since before the wedding." The Prinecess slowly steps over closer to him, looking over his roughened nature slowly. "I was rather worried."
VIRGA
Virga raised his eye, those silver eyes meeting the Princess's. It was clear what happened; He was a powerful Pegasi. Given his specific talent, likely one of the scariest when manipulating clouds and water, and flexible. The Changeling marks suggested he had been attacked at some point around the shielding by a mass number. "I failed you," he said. "I heard what transpired at the wedding."
CELESTIA
"No. You have not failed me, Virga," the Princess says softly down to her guard. She steps next to him and settles down onto the ground, a wing rising up to rest aroudn him. "We all were mislead. You were vailant, as was all my guards. There was nothing any of us could do."
VIRGA
Virga shifted closer to the alicorn when she settled against him and covered his body with a wing. It wasn't like him to be the one that was weak; always he'd been the one strong. That's twice in Equestria that he suffred injuryt hat prevented him from action. The old days were more dangerous than the present, but the present days were likely even more than the old. "I never encountered Changelings before the Fall. Either they were not in my region or they didn't exist yet." He eased his head into her neck and stared at the individual strands of fur. "I eliminated many...but their numbers swelled after I fought them for many hours."
CELESTIA
"As they did with many, dear Virga," the Princess says softly. "The Queen... she even defeated me," Celestia says soberly, the great Goddess of the Sun dropping her voice to almost a whisper as her wing slides tenderly across the pegasus's back.
VIRGA
The Pegasi's ears raised when she spoke again. Her, defeated? No. He nestled closer to Celestia and whispered softly in return. "If you were truly defeated, you'd not be here," he said. "If I had been present, I would have been a slight distraction, enough for your gain." He. Demeaned. Himself.
CELESTIA
"You cannot revisit the past. There was nothing any of us could have done," Princess Celestia reassures softly, giving him a tender kiss on his forehead. "We all were deceived. But it was the power of love that, inevitably, savedus all."
VIRGA
Love. He'd been so focused on recovery that he could hardly think of anything except healing. He closed his eyes when she kissed his brow, her being the great mother of all. "Have you seen anything of Firefly?" he asked.
CELESTIA
Celestia can't help but smile a little bit at the question he asks, following that little statement. "I have not," the Princess says quietly. "I am sure, however, that Luna would know. Perhaps you ought to go to her," Celestia offers quietly to the wounded guard.
VIRGA
If anyone knew of Firefly, it was Luna. He hadn't forgotten how the two were linked--how could anyone forget that anyhow? Virga nosed Celstia's shoulder, his voice barely above a whisper. "There is something I must say," he said, folding his ears back. "Another wedding is to be scheduled...but a private one. Firefly is the bride. You may be able to guess the identity of the groom."
CELESTIA
"I see..." the Princess says softly in response, gaining a little wider of a smile. "I shall make preparations soon, then. Who would you like to attend?" she asks, hoping he catches the deeper question behind it. Is Luna to attend, or even know?
VIRGA
Who was to attend? Well, there it was. Virga met eyes with Celestia, a little smile onhis muzzle. "You, of course, Princess Luna...and another. Fluttershy. She hadbeen a great help to the both of us that it would be a way of returning the favor." Yes, he caught the meaning. Ever since Firefly told him of Luna the last time they met, his views on the younger Princess had drastically softened.
CELESTIA
Celestia smiles kindly to the guard. "I see. Is there anyone else you would like to be there?" the Princess asks as she takes a mental note of each one to be invited.
VIRGA
Virga thought about that. Was he forgetting anyone? He didn't think so. "The servants who tended to both of us since my arrival," he said. "Am I forgetting anyone?" He stared up at her, truthfully unable to recall if there was anyone else she might be hinting at. "Oh..yes..The fantastic pony Rumbastion as our priest? His tea is quite soothing." For thinking ponies.
CELESTIA
Celestia smiles and nods to the pegasus. "I will make it so, then. I look forward to presiding over it," Celestia says softly before standing back up, planting a kiss on the pony's forehead again.
VIRGA
He murmured when she kissed his forehead, though he didn't stand quite yet, needing rest before he could return to a more active lifestyle. "Thank you, Celestia," he said, smiling up at her. "I'm glad to see you in such good health."
CELESTIA
Celestia smiles back to the guard. "And I look forward to seeing you back in good health as well, dear Virga," the Princess says before turning to leave her chambers.
