Hello Class! Tis I, your teacher; a pony of poise! A pony of notoriety, society, and variety! A pony of Popularity, named Rarity!
Tis nearly the winter solstice, and I’ve got QUITE a few dresses to make for the winter holidays and too many to make before Winter Wrap Up, but something has come to my attention that I feel I must write about!
But, Darling, before I get into this, theres something I simply MUST Address: These views discussed below are simply my own opinions and not such that of Equestira Muck’s Staff, or the hard working wizards that run our little corner of the web!
Now then, tonight’s class shall be short, and simple. It’s called: Pose Control!
Lets be frank, darling. The concept here is really simple. Don’t do it. It is notably bad form! But I may in fact be getting ahead of myself. Pose Control is the simple concept of another pony posing YOUR pony. It doesn’t happen very often, but it is most annoying when it does.
Pony X wanders into Carousel Boutique looking around for Rarity. He sees her coming down the stairs with a large number of Dresses being held and smiles kindly. “Can I help you with those M’Lady? My name is Buttercup Crème and I’m sure you’ve got quite a lot on your to do list! I shall be willing to help in anyway I can.” He says and beams when Rarity smiles at him. “Yes! I could use some help! Totally!” Rarity says.
Rarity punches Pony X right in the-
AHEM! Well! You see my issue. What good is it to be in the room and ready to Role Play if you’re going to take control of my character and what I do in my poses?
You control your character, and I shall control mine. Simple! But when you start dictating what I’m doing, then I might as well find someplace else to RP!
I am usually a pony of good will and good faith and I should hope to see every side of every issue. But I simply can’t see why you would want to RP with me, and then assume control of my pose, my actions, my attitude, and my speech.
Not only does this greatly restrict what I can and cannot do, it also makes responding to your pose considerably more difficult for me. Not to mention, your use of the character can be utterly distracting to the player representing the character itself. (I don’t think I would –ever- use the phrase ‘totally’ …I mean, really now!)
Now, of course, the concept depicted above is an extreme exaggeration to explain my point, but simple little things can be annoying as well!
Rarity adjusts her glasses looking over her work desk and the materials she has to work with for crafting a new design. “Well Buttercup, I’m certainly glad you’ve stopped by to Carousel Boutique, Now, what can I do for you?” She asks, casting a delicate glance towards the other pony.
Pony X smiles and nods his head, watching as Rarity dips this way and that, gathering materials for her dress making hobby. When she finally stops to talk with him, grabbing a glass of water in addition to the other things she’s gathered, he smiles and fills her glass with a magical use of his horn. “Allow me, dear! I need a brand new outfit for Winter Wrap Up! I heard you were the best place to go, and I hope you can make me look fantastic!”
While it does feel like quite the simple thing, there is absolutely NO way I would allow a cup of water around one of MY dress designs! I don’t even KNOW where to begin correcting Pony X but now my pose must include this…heinous crime against dress design.
PLEASE, every pony. For MY sake. Pose Control. Don’t do it.
