/#\-/#\-/#\ *** ROYAL PALACE *** /#\-/#\-/#\
The Royal Palace is the crown jewel of Canterlot, spiking like a system of stalagmites from the Ponyville side of Canterlot Mountain. The palace is surrounded by a lush botanical and zoological garden and also adjoins a world famous sculture garden and hedge maze. Its exterior is rich and impressive, made of white stone and ivory, mixed with a dazzling array of other colors and patterns. The various turrets and towers are built in peaks, onion domes, gables, and more, and many of them bear balconies, parapets, awnings, flags, or flower ornamentation.
On the inside, the palace is no less astonishing. Its tremendous foyer is crisscrossed with red carpet and hung with tremendous tapestries. Throughout the palace, unbelievably tall stained glass windows provide an air of solemnity and gaeity at once. In the Hall of the Elements, these windows are especially haunting, telling the stories of battles with Discord and Nightmare Moon. The palace has countless rooms, from the guard halls to the guest rooms to the throne room. Finally, Princess Celestia's private suite, done up in swirly purples, is furnished with a hearth, rug and bolster, ornamental window, and miniature trees.
Features: Celestia (F Alicorn), Mimic (F Crystal Unicorn)
The Court of the Day is beginning to wind down along with the sun, casting long shadows through the brightly stained windows. Mimic walks down the long hallway towards the throne at the end, face drawn tight in an expression bordering on a thoughtful frown or maybe concern. The look is conflicted, that much is clear. All she told the guards was she wished to speak to the Princess about a prisoner, though not as to the nature of her request - but then, she can be a vague creature when she's got it in her mind to be.
That Mimic has the capability to be a vague and mysterious creature is something that has not passed by the Princess of the Sun unnoticed. Even if Mimic has truly turned from her ancient dark ways, there are still surely some subconscious tendencies that linger. Particularly when her mind is troubled, as is so clearly evident on the crystal unicorn's face. "Good afternoon, Mimic," the Princess greets with a tip of her head to the finance minister's assistant. "You wished to speak with me?" The Princess waves a wing once and her guards turn and exit out the doors. She can tell when Mimic wants something to be private, and this time is almost certainly now.
Old habits die hard, so the saying goes. There are days it's just harder than others to put aside. The dismissing of the guards is noted as Mimic comes to a stop before the solar throne, the faintest of acknowledging nods given in both thanks and answer. "Yes, I did. Given the circumstance, you were the only pony who I think had the power to address this situation. The other day, I spoke to Zircon." There's a pause and the faintest clear of her throat. "Peaceably. I.. feel we've come to an agreement, as much as we likely ever will. Your Highness, I'd... like to request his release."
Celestia stares down at the crystal unicorn for a good, long moment after she speaks. How... interesting. The Princess raises up her head and takes in a short breath of air. Her horn suddenly glows a great, bright gold and a cup of tea rises up to her lips. "And this is... after he attacked both you and your boss in the palace," the Princess clarifies the situation before taking a slow, long sip of the piping hot tea. It's always piping hot. The Princess of the Sun makes one hell of a good microwave, after all. "What reason do you have for this request?"
Mimic seems well aware of the bizarre request as one corner of her mouth pulls back and she noisily clears her throat. "A lot, actually. I guess you could call it a revelation. I guess I just realized, after talking to him after all of this time is past that.. well, I made him. Not intentionally but all the same. Here I am, far less deserving but with a second shot at life. He deserves the same. He deserves the chance to *live*, which he never got before because of me. He's willing to set aside the past with the understanding we go our separate ways. I have no idea if he can or will, but he doesn't deserve to spend the rest of his life in another prison."
Bizarre is an adjective that's putting it pretty lightly, in all honesty. Bizarre would be asking for him to be forced to balance ten ice cubes on his nose while doing the chicken dance with a tutu on. This is... almost to the point of being naive. Which Celestia had -never- taken Mimic for, in any measure. The Princess of the Sun tilts her head down a little bit and stares at Mimic with a mixture of bemusement, confusion, and overall puzzlement. But it's bemusement that wins out. "He had his chance to live. And he used it to try and cause harm to others." She pauses again, for a long while. She then takes another short sip of her tea and sets it back down on her nearby tea table. "I shall talk to EB and ask if he agrees, given he was the other pony Zircon attacked. If he also expresses a desire to extend forgiveness, then I shall grant my blessing. But if he acts in the same way again, Mimic, know that he will need to face the consequences of his actions."
Ok, Mimic'd watch that, but it's beside the point. She's trying to be the bigger pony! Cursed morality. "I know. I told him I couldn't promise anything, still, this was something I at least needed to try. It's crazy, I know, but I had to at least try. He didn't have the same.. enlightenment, that I did. He's still a lot deeper in the nightmares. I wouldn't expect any different treatment if I was in his place, though." She glances down towards the base of the throne, not raising her eyes up towards the princess. "Thank you, for hearing me out. I know it's an insane request."
Celestia would totally watch that too. She makes a note mentally to make that one of Zircon's punishments if he devolves back into his... sorta crazy whateverness he did in EB's office. What a strange pony, Zircon. He's probably still in the closet. "Yes. I understand that perspective, too, though it is... unfortunate. I hope that he will gain a bit more enlightened one soon. Perhaps this will help him do so," she admits, hopefully. "You're welcome, Mimic. I hope it will all resolve amicably and without further... incidents."
"Me too." Mimic says with a long, slow exhale. "Me too. I made it clear to him I'm done fighting, that I'm done with this war. I'm tired of it. I just want to move on and I want the same for him. I just hope he can. I'd offer to keep an eye on him, but being as far away from me as possible is definitely the first step which he agreed to, if he was being honest. I understand if the Economist prefers him remain imprisoned, though."
Celestia nods deliberately. "That, too, I can sympathize with greatly. Alas, even when one is ready and wants to stop fighting, often fighting does not keep finding you." She gains a short, wistful little sigh with that statement. "I agree. Distance between you two will most likely be the best first step on his long road to reconciliation. I imagine that EB will agree with you, but I do not want to make that decision for him."
Mimic can't help but laugh at the Princess's comments. "Yeah. Isn't that the truth? Trouble is the spice of life, even if you're allergic to it. Er, not to jinx things. Well, I wouln't keep you. Thank you, though.. really. For everything." Bowing her head, she turns to take her leave and give the sun monarch some likely much-desired quiet time.
