Good evening, dears.
As some of you may recall, a few months ago I posted a tentative list of official Equestriamuck holidays. Among them, the Summer Harvest Parade, as featured in the episode 'One Bad Apple'. I am pleased as hemlock punch to announce that we will be holding our first celebration of this grand Ponyville tradition within a few weeks, most likely in the last week of August.
However, this announcement is being given well in advance, a warning, if you will, /to prepare yourselves/.

Oh, dear. I didn't think the underside of the sofa could accommodate that many ponies. ._. Please, come out, dears, and I will explain. You see, with the approval of Economistbrony, it is my intent to make a contest out of our first Summer Harvest Parade. Ponies will be given a chance to design and build actual floats for the parade, and be judged for prizes. In addition, for those who find float-building a touch ~déclassé~, there will be a beauty pageant to crown /Miss Ponyville Vegetables/, a title that any mare would aspire to.
It is my intention to recruit a trio of impartial judges to award the prizes for these contests. While the judges will, naturally, be ineligible for prizes themselves, they can certainly participate in either event for their own entertainment, if they wish. Prospective judges are encouraged to contact me to express their interest, and once I have three volunteers, we will meet over tea and scones to discuss how the contests will be run, and finalize a date when all three judges can be present.
While in the episode, all the floats shown were in the form of large vegetables and fruits (no Asphyxia Blossoms or Crawling Catchroot, sadly), participants are certainly encouraged to be more creative in the designs of their floats for the parade, so long as they keep to some sort of theme related to harvests or agriculture. Miss Derpy has kindly agreed to provide the prizes for the contest winners, in her own inimitable style.
Several weeks remain until we will be holding the event, so you have plenty of time-- at least five more weeks-- in which to think of ideas for a float, or decide to enter the /Miss Ponyville Vegetables/ pageant. It is not necessary to formally sign up, and ponies may enter both events if they wish to. If anypony has any questions or other suggestions for the event, please feel free to contact me or comment here on the thread.
I hope that we have a marvelous turnout for the Summer Harvest Parade, and I will be providing more information on the plans once I have had a chance to consult with our volunteer judges.
Thank you, dears, and I do hope you have a delightful time digging up the things you planted in the Spring. I know it's something I always look forward to, myself.
