This is the log of the All-MUCK meeting we held on Friday, October 30, 2015, in the wake of EconomistBrony's departure.
NOTE: While this meeting was generally a productive one, at times there was conflict and tempers ran high. Statements made during the course of the meeting represent the opinions of the individuals expressing them, and not the official opinion of EquestriaMUCK.
Auditorium(#498R)
> > > > > > === AUDITORIUM === < < < < < <
Welcome to the EquestriaMUCK auditorium! This tall, dramatically arched space is your destination for Out Of Character lectures, panel discussions, plays and screenings! Filled with tiers upon tiers of varnished wooden seats built from cedar and mahagony, the space enjoys a warm umber glow made possible by numerous scintilating chandeliers and wall-mounted diamond-cut lamps. It's outfitted with a sharp, booming sound system, a fancy lectern, and a retractable movie screen.

[ Sleepers: Virga(#383PBC), Ruin(#1660PBC) ]
Dusk has arrived.
Derpy shouts "The All-MUCK meeting is going to begin shortly! Since there are only 11 people on currently, we'll going to start gathering in the auditorium at your leisure, and start once we have a critical mass. To get to the auditorium, type 'oocc' followed by 'a'." (Public-shout)
PUB >> Moonlight says, "It isn't working for me"
Moonlight has arrived.
Sugar_Rush has arrived.
Sugar_Rush says "Hello."
<OOC> Moonlight waves shyly
Flicka has arrived.
<OOC> Derpy waves!
Derpy takes her briefcase full of papers and rolls of parchment with stamps stuck on everything randomly up to the podium.
Derpy indicates a table along the side with a white tablecloth for snacks.
Sugar_Rush sets out bags of various sweets, then looks under a seat at Moonlight?
<OOC> Dusk says, "Heyas!"
<OOC> Dusk says, "I am, how Derpy sayss, the back."
Lightless has arrived.
<OOC> Derpy probably says it that way, yes!
<OOC> Lightless finds a place to sit in the shadows.
Marble_Memory has arrived.
Dusk believes Moonlight is using the chair incorrectly. But as a researcher he leaves it open that it may be he who is incorrect in its use.
Marble_Memory o.o
Derpy opens her briefcase and starts setting out scrolls and briefs and memos all over the lectern.
Moonlight says "But what if someone else wants to use it? Or if someone finds me?"
Dusk covers his eyes and doesn't look at the briefs.
Sugar_Rush says "Well, I can't stay long tonight..."
<OOC> Marble_Memory shies away.
Derpy says "There are a number of ponies I expect to show up, so I'd like to wait a little longer before starting."
<OOC> Dusk says, "I believe Rush did find you. :-)"
<OOC> Derpy also has some BBQ chicken rolls tor emove from the oven.
Nimble_Hooves has arrived.
<OOC> Dusk has some burger and fries to remove from existence.
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves peeks?
Hollyhock has arrived.
<OOC> Marble_Memory o.o
Sky_Blue has arrived.
Sky_Blue can watch for a bit, but may be quiet, as sleepy!
Rainbow_Dash has arrived.
Nimble_Hooves waves
<OOC> Marble_Memory chews loudly on some beef jerky.
Derpy is standing at the podius, arranging her papers. She accidentally makes the giant screen start to come down, and starts to panic.
<OOC> Sugar_Rush says, "Derpy, I'm going to have to leave in about 10 minutes..."
Stella has arrived.
Derpy looks up and waves to everypony! And then the giant retractable screen contacts her mane and starts to push her steadily down.
<OOC> Dusk says, "Anything you miss Rush we'll post online for you too."
<OOC> Sugar_Rush says, "Just wanted to say that I hope EM will continue, though I sometimes feel there isn't a lot for me to do."
Starlight has arrived.
Derpy shouts "The All-MUCK meeting is about to begin in the Auditorium! Please join us here. The meeting will be followed, hopefully, by Nightmare Night RP. " (Public-shout)
Sky_Blue has connected.
<OOC> Dusk says, "Thanks, Rush! We're wanting it to continue too!"
<OOC> Sky_Blue says, "Blinkin' net went down the second after ah said mah lawn."
<OOC> Derpy says, "Everything's a critic!"
<OOC> Dusk says, "Your lawn broke the internet."
Bardigan has arrived.
<OOC> Moonlight says, "plays prance prance revolution"
<OOC> Dusk says, "Really hard for ponies, with the double sized dance pad."
Fluttershy has arrived.
Nimble_Hooves hugs FLuttershy
Derpy is getting squashed flat by the huge lowering screen. She sprawls. "Hellp!"
Starlight sidles over and huddles between Nimble Hooves and Fluttershy
Lightless makes the screen go down faster.
Nimble_Hooves smiles to the filly.
<OOC> Sugar_Rush says, "Well, good night, folks..."
Nimble_Hooves quietly pulls the plug on the screen
<OOC> Stella says, "I like this place too! I am not sure how prodctive I will be in a meeting like this though, I know pretty much nothing about under-the-hood stuff on mucks... or over the hood stuff. I can type though! And press ther buttons as well! Sometimes in order!"
Derpy winds up trapped and sprawled and derping when it reaches the bottom of the track. She wriggles around.
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves says, "Take care!"
<OOC> Lightless says, "Good night Sugar."
<OOC> Dusk says, "Heya, Fluttershy!"
<OOC> Moonlight watches the screen and waits for something to come on it.
Sugar_Rush hits the retract button on the screen as he leaves.
<OOC> Dusk says, "Good night, Rush!"
<OOC> Fluttershy flies in by wire. GRAPPLING HOOK
<OOC> Dusk ducks as she zips just over him.
Sky_Blue says "So, what's the meetin' thingy about? n.u"
<OOC> Dusk waits and waits as she moves slowly down the wire.. Maybe 'zip' was an overstatement.
Derpy finally manages to escape the screen. She moves to the lectern and clears her throat.
Sugar_Rush has disconnected.
<OOC> Moonlight applauds!
<OOC> Derpy says, "Welcome, everypony. I'd like to suggest that our serious discussion be conducted with OOC tags."
<OOC> Derpy says, "Borrica is on the bus on her way home, and will be joining us soon."
Dusk stands around in the area too, greeting arriving ponies. When Derpy steps up he goes quiet and waits for her to speak.
<OOC> Derpy says, "ProgrammerPony, unfortunately, is unable to made it, though he may be here late tonight."
<OOC> Derpy says, "This MUCK meeting is being called because EquestriaMUCK has gone through some turmoil lately, and we want to discuss what's been happening and where we'll be going from here."
Dusk isn't sure now where to poses his silly but ooc stuff. :-) Pokes RL in PP's direction.
WaterMane has arrived.
<OOC> Derpy says, "You all probably know about some of what's been happening to various degrees."
<OOC> Derpy says, "To begin with, I expect you all are aware that EconomistBrony has left EquestriaMUCK, as he and I posted in announcements a week or two ago."
<OOC> Derpy says, "In leaving, he appointed me headwiz."
<OOC> Derpy says, "His reasons for leaving are personal, though I expect many if not most of you have heard some of the circumstances."
<OOC> Moonlight is completely clueless, actually
<OOC> Sky_Blue noddles.
<OOC> Lightless says, "Is he coming back? Even if not as wiz."
<OOC> Derpy says, "In the wake of his departure, we were left with a deficit of leadership. For some time, Borrica has been largely unavailable to run things, and PP now has a difficult night schedule. Real life is keeping them busy."
<OOC> Moonlight says, "Was it anything I did?"
<OOC> Derpy says, "At this time, it appears he is not coming back. I'd like to save questions for a little later, though."
ShadowedSong has arrived.
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "So I can't ask if you love my beautiful beautiful eyes?"
<OOC> Derpy says, "In addition, our MUCK had been getting quieter for some time, and our player base slowly dwindling."
Dusk thinks Marble should put those back in the artifact vault.
<OOC> Derpy says, "We do, however, remain committed to continuing to exist as a community, and to trying to liven things up again."
<OOC> Derpy says, "To that end, to begin with, we have appointed two new wizards--Dusk and Flicka."
<OOC> ShadowedSong says, "congrats"
<OOC> Derpy says, "Dusk has been a staffer since pretty much the beginning, and has been a very valuable programmer as well as a stalwart player in our events and a helpful presence for players in need."
<OOC> Dusk is startled and falls over! Then stands up and gives a little bow, "Yes, thank you! I'm looking forward to helping all the more!"
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves says, "Umm... Who is Flicka?"
<OOC> WaterMane scratches at ear with back hoof. Flings wax at Sky.
<OOC> Derpy says, "Flicka is a new character made specifically for wizard duties, not for RP. She is not a new player, but you can ask her yourself who she is."
<OOC> Derpy says, "I have great trust in her, however."
<OOC> Lightless looks at Flicka, "Who are you?"
<OOC> ShadowedSong says, "It totally isnt me"
<OOC> Derpy says, "So! Questions so far?"
<OOC> Derpy says, "EB's departure has nothing to do with you, Moonlight. "
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "I have no new questions at this time."
<OOC> Dusk nodnods, "I agree Flicka is a good player here, indeed."
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves says, "I was just wondering why Flicka's alt wasn't being made public?"
<OOC> Moonlight says, "Okay. I was just a little worried is all "
<OOC> Stella says, "Flicka means Girl in Swedish "
<OOC> Derpy shrugs. "Some people like to keep it a surprise who is really who! I've done that myself on other MUCKs."
<OOC> Derpy says, "Yes, it's the name of a character in a horse book. "
<OOC> Moonlight 's hooves are clean in this as well.
<OOC> Dusk says, "And Flicka is right here for anything she wishes to add. :-)"
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves says, "I don't mind that in normal characters, but for a Wiz it seems rather deceptive."
<OOC> Lightless says, "What Nimble said."
<OOC> Derpy says, "It's up to her! But you can always ask who she is."
<OOC> Flicka waves at this point, "I was hoping that a face without a background would allow a neutral party without bias or baggage. If there is a general hue and cry, and people really do want to know, I'll tell all."
<OOC> Lightless shrugs.
<OOC> ShadowedSong says, "i dont need to know"
<OOC> Derpy says, "No further questions for now?"
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "I have no objections to an anonymous wizard. I can vouch for this player as reliable myself (If I can say that Derpy/Flicka.)"
<OOC> Derpy says, "So. Things get a little complicated here."
<OOC> Starlight notes that the furniture in a room does not disappear when you turn off the lights; a hidden identity has all the biases and baggage, we just don't know what they are.
<OOC> Derpy says, "Before EB left, there were a number of players upset with him who were not comfortable continuing to play on EquestriaMUCK with EB in charge."
<OOC> Derpy says, "Over the course of a couple of weeks, they came together and started to develop their own, alternate MUCK."
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves says, "Nothing personal against you, Flicka. It is just lack of transparency is one of the issues I do see affecting this MUCK."
<OOC> Derpy says, "I knew this was in progress, but I didn't know how far they'd gotten until last week, when the staff here had a meeting with a representative, and we discussed what we should do."
<OOC> Flicka says, "I'm also Snapdragon. Now, please pay attention to Derpy."
<OOC> Derpy says, "The meeting cleared some things up, and we discussed some things that we may want to change as a community. But we wrapped up without making any decisions."
<OOC> Derpy says, "Since then, I haven't been able to meet with the players driving construction of the alternate MUCK, and whenever I logged on, there weren't very many people there."
<OOC> Derpy says, "So I'm hoping that we can discuss it here and now."
<OOC> Derpy says, "I'll start by saying that I had originally expected that, after EB announced he was leaving, work on the new place would stop and everyone would simply reconvene here."
<OOC> Derpy says, "But it turns out they'd put in a lot of work and had bonded as a group... and I can understand that when you invest yourself into something, you don't want to simply drop it."
<OOC> Derpy says, "One possibility we discussed was whether we might want to move from this codebase to that one, since it's a newer program. Another issue brought up was complaints some players have with the grid here."
<OOC> Derpy says, "And a major concern was the fact that no Feature Characters have been cast here in quite a long time."
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves nods
<OOC> Derpy says, "I'd like to open the floor to discussion now. In particular, are there any representatives of Equestria Fair who would like to talk about what we should do moving forward?"
<OOC> Dusk did try for one before, but nothing came of it. :-)
<OOC> Marble_Memory o.o
<OOC> WaterMane kicks Marble to the center 0:)
<OOC> Sky_Blue says, "Ah think part of the problem, regarding EB at any rate, was the fact that he left, rather than was thrown out. At least, ah know fer me and Vinyl that was the case."
<OOC> Lightless waits.
<OOC> Marble_Memory DX
<OOC> Dusk says, "Personally I do like the codebase we have, as it actually has been upgraded to a recently updated version. And I like the grid we have here at least as a starting place. But I can certainly see no problem with improving it in ways ponies would find better."
<OOC> Derpy says, "Not to get too into the details of what happened, Sky Blue, but are Derpy saysing that your faith in me and the wizstaff is eroded? Or am I misinterpreting you?"
<OOC> Dusk nods to Sky, "I believe it was being looked into, and he decided to leave before it came to that. If he had refused to leave we would have very little way to remove him, since it basically was his muck."
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves says, "I am aware of Equestria Fair, but I'm not involved enough with it in order to be able to comment on their behalf. As I understand, the MUCK itself is still being built by code ponies (ie. not public yet), which is why there was likely noone there when Derpy connected."
<OOC> Derpy says, "Well, to be fair, Dusk, I think he would have willingly left if we had decided it was best."
<OOC> Dusk says, "And that may well have been the case too, yes, seeing as he willing left before it got to that point."
<OOC> Stella says, "as a total dunce where codebases are concerned.. I think whatever makes life easier for the staff members is best.. I feel like a muck would work best if most ponies play background characters and not features.. and staff spoof featured ones.. kind of like we are all lliving the 100th episode.. but maybe that's just me.."
<OOC> Sky_Blue says, "(To Derpy) Ah think in a sense, the faith in how it handled was eroded, while ah still individually lawk the staff outside of that basis. (To Dusk) The final update regardin' the matter ah received from staff and those concerned is that EB wouldn't be forced or asked to leave."
<OOC> Stella says, "I'd be afraid otherponies would think I played the feature char wrong.."
<OOC> Dusk says, "But that was to Sky's point about 'throwing him out' as in againt his will."
<OOC> Derpy nods to Stella and notes her perspective!
<OOC> Derpy says, "Sky, thanks for telling us. I think I'd like to chat privately with you later, if that's okay."
<OOC> Sky_Blue says, "That sounds a little forebodin'; considerin' the purpose of this meetin', and that ah'll lawkly end up feedin' back anyway to various folks, ah would rather we discuss such matters in this meetin' as it is. <3"
<OOC> Dusk nods, "Okay. Yeah I only got what info I had after the fact, as I wasn't a wizard until it was over."
<OOC> Starlight disagrees vehemently with Stella. one of the things that once made EQM special was how good the FCs were.
<OOC> Derpy also notes Starlight's perspective. I think most players here agree--we like the FCs and would like to have them recast.
<OOC> Lightless says, "I don't know if this will help or not, also pardon the language. But this is really fucked up. In a place where friendship is magic, you were quick to make a choice for the good of the MUCK and not your friend. And EB gave up too easily. From what I read today, the main concern seems to be other players starting a new place and whether we should move there or not. When in reality, in my point of veiw, this talk should be about bringing EB back. Those assholes wanted to leave and start something new, threatening to leave if EB stayed here (and they still left after EB did). So I miss the real point here. Those who care for EB should trust him and let him stay. This was his muck in the first place. If some people are upset with how things work, then let them leave. It's not the first time it's happened and won't be the last. Live and let live."
<OOC> Stella says, "I don't want to forbid FCs of course.. I was just.. saying that I won't dislike the muc just because of a lack of FCs"
<OOC> Derpy says, "I'd normally be happy to discuss everything here in public, Sky, except that this is a sensitive matter which respects certain persons' privacy."
<OOC> Dusk nods about FCs, "There is value in both ways, and why we've always allowed spoofing of FCs when a player one wasn't around. Even if they were on but just busy, or you'd rather spoof them than have a player. And were're not asking that everypony has to take up an FC. Only if it's something you feel in your heart to do. :-)"
<OOC> Flicka says, "I agree with Starlight. All canon characters are to some degree original characters, even if they are constructed within an established framework. People, well, at least I, enjoy seeing different perspectives upon a given character.""
<OOC> Starlight stares at lightless.
<OOC> Marble_Memory glares at Lightless.
<OOC> Sky_Blue says, "The hell. o.o"
<OOC> Lightless shrugs, said what she felt was right.
<OOC> Sky_Blue says, "He... raped two women, Lightless."
<OOC> Sky_Blue says, "Not sure if that's 'live and let live' territory."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "I'm personally quite protective of Apple Bloom, myself. Though I'm not quite as possessive of her as other are of their FCs, certainly."
<OOC> Derpy just wants to say to Lightless that you may be judging too quickly in the process of accusing others of judging too quickly.
<OOC> ShadowedSong says, "umm"
<OOC> Lightless shrugs, "I don't know for sure, I spoke with all parties and I never got a real story. Just two different sides where alcohol was involved. And it's not about that, this talk is about the muck, no?"
<OOC> Derpy says, "And, I'd rather not get into the details here."
<OOC> Starlight says, "it's about that too if you're calling us assholes."
<OOC> Sky_Blue says, "Aaand then defendin' EB."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "Before we lose our tempers..."
<OOC> Dusk says, "Lightless, I definitely agree about loyalty and friends in general. But it wasn't just a disagreement over muck management as you might be thinking, but over RL issues as well."
<OOC> ShadowedSong says, "can we get back on topic?"
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "I was the "official" representative of EqF during that meeting last week."
<OOC> Bardigan says, "If this is just going to be rival parties shouting at each other, I'm going to hop off until we get back to ponies."
<OOC> Derpy says, "Right. No more angry words, please That can be taken elsewhere."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "If ANY of the staff had spoken to me that disrespectfully and spitefully of our group, I'd have left without a word."
<OOC> WaterMane thinks the point is not about choosing a side, and screw the other MUCK. It's more what could be incorporated to make this one more agreeable to all ponies, or if it may be better as a revived system.
<OOC> Lightless shrugs, "Sorry then. But those were my thoughts on the matter. This place belonged to EB, and people wanted him to leave. So he did, and those people did not come back and still started their own thing. So I don't see their problem in the first place."
<OOC> Derpy says, "I think pretty much everyone wants us all to come together again and continue to have fun together. Is that incorrect?"
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "EqF wants only good things for EqM, believe me. If we wanted to spite EqM or hurt it, we wouldn't have held a meeting."
<OOC> Derpy nods to Marble.
<OOC> Fluttershy says, "You're correct, Derpy."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "As for this place belonging to EB? I must respectfully say "horseapples." This was EVERYPONY'S game."
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves says, "they started EqF before EB left, when there were indications he'd be staying."
<OOC> Fluttershy says, "As far as I'm aware, that's everyone's wish."
<OOC> WaterMane says, "Or, as might also be agreeable, sister MUCKs that could well complement each other."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "Apologies Derpy, please continue."
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves nods, "Sorry, Derpy... carry on."
<OOC> Derpy says, "Are there a significant number of people who think they should perhaps go forward as sister MUCKs, as Watermane said?"
<OOC> Starlight is pretty sure 'close down EqF' is a total dead end. Some folk need it.
<OOC> Derpy says, "What troubles me about that is that we were shrinking already, and both ordinary RP and special events were diminishing. Splitting some players off, even if some RP in both places, seems to me like a recipe for both MUCKs to fail."
<OOC> ShadowedSong says, "id like too have everyone together, but im new here so"
<OOC> Moonlight doesn't have any intention of going to another MUCK, granted she isn't even all that active in this one.
<OOC> Stella raises a hoof "I am a relatively new player... so.. that spells some kind of hope... right?"
<OOC> Starlight agrees with Derpy, essentially, but there are some folks who don't trust EQM any more, and it is unlikely they ever would without a huge shakeup in staff. Maybe not even then.
<OOC> Starlight is not sure whether or not she is one of them.
<OOC> Derpy is hoping we can make EqM more active again. I'm looking forward to Nightmare Night RP later tonight and tomorrow, and hoping that we can put together a Running of the Leaves.
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves sighs and nods to Starlight.
<OOC> Bardigan says, "No MUCKs last forever. Whatever will be will be. Whatever players want to do is up to them."
<OOC> Dusk definitely wants things to be back to ponies and fun here for sure.
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "EqF is merely hoping to make sure everypony has a place they want to go. We're happy and willing to share players or offer as a fallback if things go wrong. One good thing is our two games aren't interdependent on each other (If one fails, both don't automatically fail.) and everyone in this room would be welcome on EqF. And I imagine the REVERSE is just as much the case."
<OOC> Bardigan says, "I think it's best if we simply let both MUCKs take their course."
<OOC> Derpy says, "It seems like there are two possible reasons players may not feel happy coming back to EqM. They may have feelings regarding EconomistBrony (and perhaps myself, PP and Borrica) which relate to incidents that I consider confidential at this time. Or they may be unhappy with the way things have been run, and/or details about the MUCK like the codebase or the grid."
<OOC> Derpy says, "It looks like we'll have to discuss the former privately elsewhere... or not. But we can discuss the second here."
<OOC> Bardigan says, "All this talk of player-sharing and whatnot just sounds strange to me."
<OOC> Lightless says, "That sounds like just giving up then."
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves says, "I do think the grid needs updating. Moving around is confusing, and there seems to be no clear rules for anything connected right to the grid. When Firefly and I build the Crystal Empire, we tried to stick to basic rules (such as repeated 'out' exits will always follow back to the Plaza, and then to the train station back to the rest of the grid). Looking back, we could have done an even better job, but hindsight is always 20/20."
<OOC> Derpy nods to Nimble. We'll talk about the grid shortly.
<OOC> Derpy says, "For now I want to touch on coding."
<OOC> Derpy says, "ProgrammerPony and Dusk have told me that they acknowledge some improvements in the EqF platform, which is some version of ProtoMUCK--others can discuss the details better than I. But they feel it would be significantly more trouble than it's worth to move everything we have here over there."
<OOC> Starlight says, "i don't think any 'official decision' on 'player sharing' is needed. players can always go wherever they want."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "Agreed, Starlight."
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves nods
<OOC> Derpy says, "Is there anyone who wants to make a case otherwise? Marble, maybe, as a chief coder?"
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "Well, porting things over would be an undertaking, I won't lie. Or maybe I should lie. Is lying advisable in this situation?"
<OOC> Starlight says, "don't lie. it would be an undertaking, but not nearly as hard as it may seem, if EQM has @archive installed."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "True."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "Now."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "It is true FBMuck has sprung back to life like some horrible zombie."
<OOC> Starlight is not doing programming for EqF, but bulk data conversion is one of the things she does in her day job, so... if it came down to that, she is willing to undertake that, uh, undertaking.
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves says, "I would like to see EqM have more functinality... like a better @po"
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "But despite being "updated" it's still quite a ways behind other MUCK codebases in a large number of ways, including way colors are handled, better MUF, etc. Far less pain to set things up and program raw if you don't have to spend a couple days installing core libraries fbmuck still depends on to get up to speed..."
<OOC> Derpy says, "What could be improved about @po, Nimble?"
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "This may change in the future, but so far the updates I've seen coming to fbmuck have been relatively minor and definitely not up to speed with Proto or Glow, and hosting-wise I've had way more troubles with fbmuck than any other MU* codebase."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "THOUGH."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "HB is doign a marvelous job and I do enjoy being the backup host for this game."
<OOC> Marble_Memory sits back down. o.o
<OOC> Derpy says, "Thank you, Marble."
<OOC> Derpy says, "I think I should mention, for anyone who missed the announcement, that we are now on a spiffy brand new server."
<OOC> WaterMane gnaws on shiny server.
<OOC> Derpy says, "We were suffering from frequent crashes, which no doubt exacerbated the problems we've been having. Now they are no longer happening, and our connection speed should be faster."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "Out of curiosity Derpy."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "Did HostBrony ever get around to revealing who the VPS service is?"
<OOC> Derpy says, "I didn't realize you wanted to know! I can ask him."
<OOC> Starlight says, "'Vicarious Pony System'"
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "It's more perverse curiosity."
<OOC> Derpy says, "My first instinct was that it stood for 'Very Popwerful Server'."
<OOC> Derpy says, "But no, it's 'Virtual Private Server'."
<OOC> Marble_Memory opens his mouth to say what. Realizes nopony really is curious. Closes mouth. Eats more bran.
<OOC> Starlight knows.
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves says, "Better tracking of poses, and possibly even a last pose history for each player on the list. The abaility to drop idle players from the @po..."
<OOC> Derpy says, "All right. I'll assume no one has more to say on the technical side. We can discuss the grid now!"
<OOC> Derpy notes Nimble's suggestion.
<OOC> Derpy says, "So! We did discuss the grid in our meeting."
<OOC> Fluttershy says, "I'm afraid the technical side is beyond my paling."
<OOC> Derpy says, "Most of the main rooms are my own creation and responsibility."
Starlight huddles next to miss fluttershy
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "Yes, I suggested we @recycle the whole thing and build homogonous rooms nopony finds inspiring"
<OOC> Stella says, "the grid.. sounds technical too"
<OOC> Derpy says, "I think it was easier to find one's way around when it was smaller. I realize it may not be easy now, and it doesn't help that we have no official map."
<OOC> Sky_Blue says, "Ah'm quite pleased with the layout ah set up fer EQF, if ah may."
<OOC> Derpy says, "I would like to make it easier for ponies to find their way around. I need suggestions, though, since it's easy for me, as I was the one who built it."
<OOC> Dusk is quite behind. Just getting to where talking about code base. To Nimble, things like @po can be changed however we like without having to change the very server we run in. MUF is quite capable. And I think PP did a great job with it really. I think the main issue is when someone idles out, but stays in @po. It eventually removes them, but nothing more quickly.
<OOC> Sky_Blue says, "Is based on the show's layout (studied loads of pics) and uses cardinal directions, fer ease of navigation."
<OOC> Derpy says, "One thing I deliberately avoided was having exits that simply lead in cardinal directions, like north or east."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "There should be a "hug Marble" room. Nopony is building one on EqF and I want one."
<OOC> Moonlight says, "Well I hate to shame anypony, but it seems a little irresponsible to create such a large MUCK world without any official maps."
<OOC> Starlight says, "it grew organically, moonlight."
<OOC> Derpy says, "But some people may want those. Another possibility is that the exits could refer to directions, but not use them as shortcuts."
<OOC> WaterMane says, "Maps would be nice."
<OOC> Flicka gives Marble his builder's bit.
<OOC> Fluttershy says, "I remember when we had maybe a dozen rooms."
<OOC> Derpy notes Moonlight. I think we ought to make an official map. Dusk and I once made an unofficial one we shared on Google Drive for the main rooms.
<OOC> Starlight thinks: maps, also 'outward flow' design.
<OOC> Derpy says, "What is that, Starlight?"
Borrica has arrived.
<OOC> Moonlight says, "True, but I mean have a request for one on the MUCK that would link to a webpage that had whatever the latest map could be? Or am I overthinking it?"
<OOC> Starlight says, "well, in a complex map, it's easy for players to get lost. basically, if you think of it like a network of streams an pools, it should always be possible from anywhere to get to a more public area in a consistent way. 'out' generally works, like going downstream."
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves nods to Starlight
<OOC> Derpy says, "By a consistent way, you mean a consistent command?"
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves says, "yes"
<OOC> Stella shrugs "I get lost all the time anyway... I have no idea how to get back to glimmer's house..."
<OOC> Starlight nods. "then the very biggest pools have clearly marked thoroughfares between them. it's pretty much
<OOC> Starlight says, "what mister nimble said, but formalized."
<OOC> Derpy says, "PP did suggest that he might work on creating a program to give players directions to room they want to go to. I'm not sure how exactly it would work."
<OOC> Derpy says, "I'm also curious to what extent describing the exits (so you can look at them and see where they go) would be useful."
<OOC> Starlight says, "that could work via streams, among other ways"
<OOC> Lightless says, "Sorry to say this, but what's the point in fixing the grid? Most people just hang out at private places..."
<OOC> Dusk likes the @po last pose option, as long as no privacy issues. Ponies may be having a private convo and stop when someone comes in.
<OOC> Fluttershy says, "The idea is to make it less intimidating to move from room to room."
<OOC> Derpy says, "It would be nice if people would run into each other randomly more and interact, Lightless. That's how I see it, anyway, and that's why I've tried to keep the core area small."
<OOC> Sky_Blue quietly thinks that it was quite simple on EQF. Like, To Ponyville Market [N], To the Schoolhouse [NW]. "That way, y'all can remember X is north from there, rather than potentially confusin' things. On EQM, ah couldn't ever find mah way around Ponyville, let alone to Canterlot thanks t' confusin' loops to Seed Street, Runaway Road, and the Market.
<OOC> Marble_Memory runs into Derpy often. It hurts and sprays mail all over.
<OOC> Fluttershy says, "Personally, I like seeing different places, but I find it hard to move around without someone to hook onto."
<OOC> Derpy nods to Sky Blue.
<OOC> Starlight says, "that's not true, lightless"
<OOC> Lightless says, "Yeah, and I agree. But still, what's the bloody point if people just idle in private non-grid rooms?"
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves says, "maybe have a flag to disable @po in private spaces... as for public spaces, they shouldn't be the place for private conversations"
<OOC> Starlight says, "cause and effect the other way. make it easier to do the thing you want them to do."
<OOC> Lightless says, "From my experience, it is. I lurk on the grid all the time and all I see is other idling in someone's private studio or new appartments. I don't think the grid is the main issue, but idling in certain spots."
<OOC> Starlight says, "what do you propose?"
<OOC> Lightless says, "shrugs, "Hell if I know. Maybe hanging out in public places might help?"
<OOC> Starlight thinks the thing to do is makle it easier to move around, and fill the bloody FC roster, then hold RP events. THAT makes them move. but you need the fixes.
<OOC> Marble_Memory is always on the grid, even in his own house, which he shares with two minor FCs.
<OOC> Lightless says, "Not everyone knows how to get in your private study loft when there's so many places out in the grid to hang out."
<OOC> WaterMane says, "Well, fixing grid issues could help with people being willing to use public areas."
<OOC> WaterMane says, "Private areas are convenient, in a way."
<OOC> Derpy nods. Any other opinions on cardinal directions?
<OOC> Lightless says, "Convenient how?"
<OOC> Derpy says, "The way I see it, they're impersonal and make things less cozy. But I do have directions in mind for how things are laid out."
<OOC> ShadowedSong says, "i havent explored because of how complicated the grid is"
<OOC> Moonlight confesses that she has been idling in the same private area for months now largely due to fears of meeting other ponies. She probably could have left for public areas anytime she wanted.
<OOC> Starlight is not a new player AT ALL and still gets lost trying to find certain places.
<OOC> Dusk says, "I want to make a system of providing directions with the current grid, until we make more extensive changes. It would be a quicker way to help folks find place. So you would do 'where #dir' and in addition to the where/find listing, it will give directions to public/grid rooms. Though each room would need to have those directions set on them. But I have some ideas to make it easier and even auto-update with grid changes."
<OOC> Derpy says, "What specifically makes it complicated for you, Shadowed?"
<OOC> Stella says, "likes things that are cozy"
<OOC> WaterMane says, "Well, customizable as opposed to main grid rooms, so they are potentially more multi-purpose, I suppose. And seeing as the grid is all a tangle, it's easier to just summon RP partners to your room than navigate to a wayward pub place."
<OOC> Flicka siddles up to Moonlight, and says, "Hello. I'm another pony."
<OOC> Moonlight eeps fearfully?
<OOC> ShadowedSong says, "the big list of destinations, lack of maps and not being abled to use compase to move around"
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves says, "cardinal direstions are the easiest way to go, but not essential... making sure the exits and destinations are documented are probably more important"
<OOC> Dusk says, "Heya, Borrica! (from the past..)"
<OOC> Moonlight says, "Have you tried instead creating a series of public rooms to replace all the private areas? Perhaps only make them private for the duration of an RP in them?"
<OOC> Flicka puts her Wizzard(sic) hat on Moonlight. Now they can be friends!
<OOC> Moonlight is...confused?
<OOC> Flicka 's work here is done.
<OOC> Derpy says, "Okay! I'm taking note of everything."
<OOC> Derpy says, "What do you mean by documented, Nimble?"
<OOC> Borrica waves. "Allo."
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves says, "Like having signs that you can look at (separeately from the room desc) or being able to look at the exit and have a short desc of where it is going."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "Could that be in the exit descriptions themselves?"
<OOC> Derpy says, "Signs are an interesting idea. What would they say?"
<OOC> WaterMane says, "I do have a suggestion"
<OOC> Stella says, "I need bed... it's super late here... umm.. anyone know how to get to Glimmer's house?"
<OOC> WaterMane says, "As far as replacing private areas"
<OOC> Derpy says, "I'm considering having exits like, "Northwest to Maple Street" where the main shortcut is still based on "Maple Street"..."
<OOC> Moonlight is gonna DC too. She is getting pretty tired.
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "I think the short answer is "ask a wizard to @tel you there.""
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves says, "Take care"
<OOC> Derpy says, "Okay. Before you two go..."
<OOC> Dusk says, "In fact, I always build like Starlight says, having an 'out' leading back towards the most public place. Using that I could have a lot of the place self-mapping for where ponies build using that style."
<OOC> Derpy says, "I want to quickly move on to the last big topic I wanted to discuss."
<OOC> Sky_Blue says, "Ah think havin' the EQF balance (descriptive text, cardinal shortcut) is useful, as it means y'all can quickly navigate about by quickly typin' shortcuts."
<OOC> Derpy says, "And that's Feature Characters."
<OOC> Derpy says, "Clearly, we need to cast them soon."
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves says, "Agreed"
<OOC> Derpy says, "EB, for some reason, just wasn't able to get auditions together for many months."
<OOC> Stella nods "okay.."
<OOC> WaterMane says, "Elsemuck, there is a system of TP rooms (I think there's, like...4 of them) based in the OOC area. The descs can be customised for RP involving rooms that don't exist on grid, but aren't necessary to become permanent rooms. They can be public or private rooms, depending on scene."
<OOC> ShadowedSong says, "I nominate derpy to be derpy"
<OOC> Moonlight says, "For new additions, or are you wiping the slate clean?"
<OOC> Sky_Blue coughLazinessCough.
<OOC> Derpy says, "At this point, our player base is kind of small, and if we simply pick a character to audition, we may not get any candidates, or any good candidates."
<OOC> Starlight strongly suggests authorizing delegated staff for this where needed, since one of the HUGE bottlenecks was lining up the busy schedules of a quorum of wizards.
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "I propose that I get three more FCs."
<OOC> Lightless had been wanting to audition for Spike, now not so sure.
<OOC> Derpy says, "For that reason, I'm inclined to ask players to say publically which characters they most want to see cast, and to tell me ~privately~ which characters they're interested in trying out for."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "Oh goodie!"
<OOC> Derpy says, "WIthout a stronge preference, Twilight Sparkle is the obvious first choice for casting."
<OOC> Derpy says, "Possibly in conjunction with Spike."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "Twilight, Pinkie Pie, Celestia, Spike, Pinkie Pie, Twilight, Rarity, Pinkiie Pie, Twilight, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Twilight..."
<OOC> Derpy says, "Does anyone want to share their thoughts on this?"
<OOC> Derpy says, "Thanks, Marble "
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "SWEETIE BELLE."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "It's kinda sad I'm the most consistent CMC player on here."
<OOC> Derpy says, "Moonlight: We are not wiping the slate clean. Current FCs are remaining."
<OOC> Lightless would like to first know if EqM is going to still be up in the next three weeks before commenting about an FC?
<OOC> Stella says, "I'd be too nervous about disapointing other ponies with how I portrait their favourite character...."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "And the only ORIGINAL AB player not counting when staff spoofed her before."
<OOC> Sky_Blue says, "A big problem with the castin' procedure on EQM, ah found, was the neccessity fer all four wizzes to be present, which meant co-ordinatin' FIVE folks."
<OOC> Derpy says, "And yes, at this point, I think I can confidentally say Sweetie Belle is available again."
<OOC> Starlight has heard no words about shutting down eqm.
<OOC> Derpy says, "Sorry, I meant confidently."
<OOC> Stella says, "that said.. I do identify quite a bit with the CMCs.."
<OOC> Sky_Blue says, "Simply havin' a single (or two) wiz and others readin' a log of the interview would perhaps be more practical."
<OOC> Starlight says, "s'true. someone else could conduct an audition and the wizards decide on logs."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "The audition process I think needs to change, just because the wizrards are really freaking hard to get together consistently. :/"
<OOC> Derpy says, "Sky: We have five wizards now, and we did discuss this. We'll only seek for three plus me to be present for an audition, and will be willing to do it with only two if needbe."
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves nods to Sky, "If a wiz can't be there isn't it enough for them to read a log and then ask questions when they are on?"
<OOC> Stella says, "I cried so much during the flag waving episode..."
<OOC> Derpy says, "In addition: We've decided that when we open a part for applicants, there will be a deadline for doing so. Typically a week, I think."
<OOC> Derpy says, "I'm not comfortable committing to a deadline for us to complete auditions and decide, because sometimes schedules will just be difficult to work with. But we will provide estimates for when roles will be cast by."
<OOC> Marble_Memory is glad you have managed to recruit two new active wizards. But there are still a couple super-inactiveish wizards (No offense, Borrica.)
<OOC> Derpy says, "Borrica has been able to make it to auditions pretty reguarly, actually."
<OOC> Sky_Blue says, "The problem fer 'three plus Derpyawesome' still means y'all need FIVE people co-ordinatin' together fer the interview, which is hard to arrange, especially with multiple interviews in a short timespan."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "At LEAST five."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "An important part of auditioning FCs is playing them off other FCs."
<OOC> Dusk says, "I agree about folks idling, both in private and in public. That was part of what was good at having a very small grid originally, it forced more people together. I come from FurryMUCK originally, and that is huge, has maps and directions, and lots of people. But still you just have a select small number of rooms where people usually get together at all, and often there's nothing much more than idle chatter. It's getting people to do something that's the harder part. And I'm guilty of that too, as I try to at least log in here right off, but like today I only just finally finished dinner, and haven't even cleaned up afterwards, and still in my work clothes. Though today is certainly busier than usual for me here. :-) But often by the time I get settled, it's getting pretty late here. It's a hard thing to overcome. But part of why the grid grows is more people want to make new and interesting places, which is also nice, as it might get ponies to actually RP something there, for a while. Then it becomes an old place. Rinse and repeat. :-)"
<OOC> Lightless says, "This whole talk is ruining EqM, in my opinion. I feel like I am losing focus of my friends and the things that matter."
<OOC> Marble_Memory was an important part of casting Big Mac and Applejack, for example.
<OOC> Derpy walks over to cuddle against Lightless.
<OOC> Derpy says, "If it turns out to be too hard to get five/six people together for an audition, we'll go with fewer and send out logs."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "Derpy."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "Um."
Lightless has left.
<OOC> Starlight frowns
<OOC> ShadowedSong says, "rip"
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "Did you and the rest of the wizstaff ever decide on what parts of that FC policy you were going to use (Referring to our meeting?)?"
<OOC> ShadowedSong giggles
<OOC> Dusk also did try to set up a Places section on EquestriaMUCK.com but it has only gotten limited use. It's there to let you peruse possible locations you might not even know, check out desc and even give pictures, and directions too.
<OOC> Derpy says, "That's another good point! EQf produced a couple of policy documents they showed us."
<OOC> Derpy says, "They were pretty similar to what we've already got. I think we may be incorporating parts of them, after staff discussion."
<OOC> Derpy says, "But no, we haven't done that yet."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "It seemed like generally positive reception of the FC policy. I don't know what AUP feels you guys had, I think by the time I got that to you we were all dying."
<OOC> Starlight notes that EQM does not *have* an explicit FC policy, just a single vague paragraph on the forum.
<OOC> Dusk says, "Well Signs could be a very ic thing, like a post with arrow signs pointing in road directions saying what things are there. That would be neat. Especially if could automate it some. :-)"
<OOC> Starlight wrote the AUP and FC docs for EqF. The latter was based largely on what EQM *meant*, or appeared to, but did not have written down.
<OOC> Derpy nods to Starlight.
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "I do like the emphasis on FCs being a responsibility, not a prize."
<OOC> Starlight says, "it is an applejack perspective."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "Frankly, it's hard work being Apple Bloom to a spectrum of expectations."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "I have people who want her to be squarely as she is on the show, and those who are interested in playing with the AB as I developed her, and every point in between."
<OOC> Derpy nods! Does anyone want to voice preferences for which characters they most want cast?
<OOC> Derpy says, "Marble already did..."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "To reiterate..."
<OOC> Marble_Memory opens his mouth to list.
<OOC> Starlight says, "you need celestia and the mane six above all"
Borrica ahems belatedly, "Actually, the main reason that I decided to come to this meeting (as I am rather preoccupied with other matters this evening, my apologies for being so idle), is to announce my resignation from my Wizard position. It's hardly a secret that I'm inactive, and I wouldn't start to deny it. I've wanted to try to contribute more -- more to help my fellow wizzes than for my own enjoyment -- and that's mostly why I haven't resigned sooner. However, I honestly just haven't been able to find any fun in it at all, especially recently. Time has also obviously been a big issue.
<OOC> Starlight says, "!"
<OOC> Derpy goes to Borrica and hugs.
<OOC> Marble_Memory hugs Borrica.
<OOC> ShadowedSong hugs Bor
<OOC> Stella says, "awww"
<OOC> Borrica hugs. "I'm sorry I haven't been here more."
<OOC> Sky_Blue hugs Borry <3
<OOC> Stella says, "I am not sure I am in the right timezone to be an FC"
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves says, "What timezone?"
<OOC> Sky_Blue says, "Is okay, Borry; ah (and ah'm sure we) understand how occupyin' RL can be <3"
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves says, "I'm in a pretty odd one"
<OOC> Fluttershy says, "Shh. It's okay."
<OOC> Fluttershy says, "Do what you have to."
<OOC> Stella says, "Sweden. GMT+1 i think"
<OOC> Derpy understands too, at least in part, after chatting with Borrica recently.
<OOC> Fluttershy hugs, and is sorry you didn't get to do more.
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "Nah, I understand. But this was one thing many players had an issue with. Not you, Borrica, but a seeming problem with players holding prominant official positions (wizard, major FC) and never connecting or just connecting and idling, and nothing being done about replacing them. :/"
<OOC> Dusk says, "I agree with Sky, with only needing a couple of wizzes to hold an audition, and letting the others review logs being a good way for comment. And maybe some non-wizzes if they need someone to RP against the auditioning character."
<OOC> Rainbow_Dash hugs the pegadonk!
<OOC> Stella says, "LOL! Pegadonk... what an awesome word!"
<OOC> Moonlight says, "My work hours probably wouldn't allow it either, not that I'd be any good at it anyway. Third shift takes a lot out of you."
<OOC> Derpy says, "That's true, we've sometimes invited in guests for audition RPs and asked their opinion afterward."
<OOC> Moonlight says, "Being a FC I mean"
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "It was MAJORLY MAJORLY MAJORLY irritating with Twilight's last (And only.) player."
<OOC> Starlight nodnodnod
<OOC> Derpy agrees.
<OOC> Sky_Blue says, "Majorly."
<OOC> Dusk says, "But do need some wizard(s) there to ask questions and spur what we want. These aren't just audition tapes you send in. :-)"
<OOC> Starlight says, "you need players who know how to conduct an audition and log them."
<OOC> Starlight says, "not necessarily wizards"
<OOC> Moonlight says, "In the mean time, I really do need to go now."
<OOC> Derpy says, "Goodbye, Moonlight! Thanks for being here."
<OOC> Fluttershy says, "Do take care, Moonlight."
<OOC> Derpy hopes she gets to play soon with you!
<OOC> Flicka says, "Good night Moonlight. We appreciate you being here."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "I do agree one or two wizards. I disagree tryign to coordinate the majority of the staff is necessary. Most MU*s I've seen only really auditioned with a couple wizards, often with a "Story" or "Theme" wizard whose job was to handle the auditions especially."
<OOC> Sky_Blue hugs Moon!
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "I think trying to get almost the entire staff together is a major reason why casting FCs has been so slow and frustrating on this game."
Moonlight has disconnected.
<OOC> Stella says, "I must bed now! nini all! First meeting hehe... i wouldnt mind trying an fc if it would help... as lon as m timeone doesn't ruin thtings..."
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves says, "Take care Stella"
<OOC> Derpy says, "Okay! I'm going to go ahead and officially announce that anyone who's interestede in trying out for an unfiled FC should let me know. The reason you should do it privately is so that we can conduct blind auditions. You can contact me through ordinary MUCK means like paging, whispering, page mails or MUCKmail, or by sending me a PM on the forum, or using any contact info from me you may have."
<OOC> Flicka says, "If you think you want to play an FC, please do submit your name for a position. Take care in the meanwhile, and have a good night."
<OOC> Stella says, "thanks! nini! hugs!"
<OOC> Derpy waves to Stella!
<OOC> Derpy says, "As for you Borrica, I think we all understand and accept your resignation. And thank you for being there for all those meetings and auditions--we appreciate your service."
<OOC> Borrica salutes.
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "Twilight, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Twilight, Sweetie Belle, Celestia, Twilight, Pinkie Pie..."
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves says, "Thank you, Borrica"
<OOC> Starlight says, "applejack."
<OOC> Sky_Blue says, "Y'all forgot 'Twalawt'."
<OOC> Sky_Blue hugs pegadonks.
<OOC> Dusk aws and hugs Borrica too! "You've done tons for the place. Just sorry RL is holding things up now for you."
<OOC> WaterMane does demand an official position as Pundertaker.
<OOC> Marble_Memory Nalas, "I'M HELPING."
<OOC> Derpy says, "Borrica and I have worked as wizards on other MUCKs. We met over a decade ago on The Lion King MUCK. We've had some swell times when we lived in the same metro area, whether talking about roleplaying or not. "
<OOC> Dusk says, "Well also one issue we had with FC, at least as far as not kicking them off, was not having someone to replace them, so they might as well hold onto if play even a little. But yes, more active auditions should hopefully cut that down, if we have enough player interest in playing FCs."
<OOC> Dusk says, "Maybe I can set up something that let's people 'line up' for a role, that only Derpy can see actual names. When a part is open and has enough interested in playing, it can be opened for audition."
<OOC> Derpy says, "If you'd like to, Dusk, that would be nifty."
<OOC> Derpy says, "Okay! I think that topic is done. The last thing I want to talk about is stimulating roleplay."
<OOC> Starlight says, "could be as simple as a spreadsheet where names are listed."
<OOC> Marble_Memory Takeis. "Oh maiiii."
<OOC> Derpy says, "Of course, casting Feature Characters will help. And the new server will help, and so will smoothing over disagreements."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "I DISAGREE."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "..."
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "NO WAIT I AGREE."
<OOC> Derpy says, "But beyond that, I'm curious how players feel about playing ponies these days."
<OOC> Marble_Memory sits down. Drinks more coffee.
<OOC> Derpy says, "I'd like to offer big events, whether special holiday-style events or ongoing TPs."
<OOC> Starlight thinks that season 5 is sketchy, and also that the dearth of FCs is a huge damper on RP.
Hollyhock helps Marble drink coffee.
<OOC> Derpy says, "But for maybe half a year, I've found it really hard to do so. It's been hard to get players interested in playing. It's been hard to find people who want to help run events."
<OOC> Derpy says, "It wasn't nearly so hard a couple years ago."
<OOC> Starlight believes that the majority of players at least partly want to nmeet and talk to their beloved characters. And go on adventures with them.
<OOC> Derpy nods to Starlight. Any comments from others?
<OOC> Fluttershy says, "Adventure is hard."
<OOC> Flicka agrees with that, "That was one of the reasons I started mucking, however long ago."
<OOC> Fluttershy says, "I mean, REAL adventure."
<OOC> Starlight says, "bardigan is especially good at creating that"
<OOC> Hollyhock eyes Bardigan, "Bardigan's good at makin' trouble is what Bardigan's good at."
<OOC> Starlight says, "tomayto tomahto"
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "He almost doomed Equestria with a play."
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves nods, RPs with FCs was pretty important for me too.
<OOC> Starlight says, "he did, and that was the most awesome arc ever"
<OOC> Dusk says, "Well a spreadsheet wouldn't let folks in-muck or online put themselves on the list, and keep it private at the same time. In-muck would be good as everyone here would have access, and it can check like if you haven't logged in in a while, you lose your place in line. :-) And yes, RP is good! Woo!"
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves says, "I would like to see more MUCK-wide RPs. Running of the Leaves, Winter Wrap-Up, Hearthswarming as well and non-canon events (like the play)"
<OOC> WaterMane is just here to make puns and create groans.
<OOC> Bardigan says, "I am good at making troubler."
<OOC> Marble_Memory would like to think he puts on good events too.
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves says, "I remember there was a Rodeo happening when I first arrived on the MUCK"
<OOC> Derpy is hoping that we can do something for Running of the Leaves. That in particular doesn't take a lot of prep. Just a critical mass of players and someone to play the Mayor and/or announcer.
<OOC> Starlight says, "pinkie. spike."
<OOC> Derpy says, "Any volunteers for that? I could do it, of course, but I'd want to know we have interested runners. And a twist would be nifty too, of course, to keep it from being too much like our past Running and our rodeo."
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves says, "I have had a few issue RPing, but most of that has been issues iRL for me... and also my odd timezone. Not much the MUCK can do for that."
<OOC> Dusk nods to Fluttershy, "I recall hearing FiM was suppose to be like 50% adventure episodes, but it was too hard or somesuch too. :-)"
<OOC> Fluttershy says, "It is."
<OOC> Fluttershy says, "And you notice, with episodes like Running of the Leaves, the episode isn't ABOUT the Running of the Leaves, in the sense that it's just about there being a race."
<OOC> Derpy says, "Exactly."
<OOC> Starlight says, "fall weather friends"
<OOC> Derpy says, "I've sometimes felt that we put too much emphasis on special events and not enough on plots... but then again, at this point, either is very welcome."
<OOC> Starlight sniffles suddenly and huddles almost underneatgh fluttershy
<OOC> Dusk gasps! Either his connection die, or he's finally caught up. :-)
<OOC> Derpy says, "Speaking of which... Nightmare Night is potentially both!"
<OOC> Dusk says, "Nope, still here. :-)"
<OOC> Derpy says, "Shall I go ahead and describe what we want to do for Nightmare Night? (In addition to whatever else anypony cooks up on their own!)"
<OOC> Fluttershy says, "Sup, Starlight?"
Stella has disconnected.
<OOC> Dusk says, "And Derpy is right, she has often tried to start up RP, and I doubt the lack of players joining was just because of a lack of FCs. Derpy is herself a FC-ish. :-)"
<OOC> Starlight says, "i miss everything"
<OOC> Starlight says, "popularity begets popularity."
<OOC> Starlight says, "derpy alone is not a critical mass of attention."
<OOC> Nimble_Hooves says, "I did like the start to the Mare Crisium plot. It was nice to have something to RP around in my own time without having to be part of the core RP."
<OOC> Fluttershy points at NImble! Yes! GOod thought.
<OOC> Fluttershy says, "You could have your own splinter plot without having to deal with a crowd."
<OOC> Derpy nods! And if there's enough interes, I'd be glad to complete Mare Crisium. Otherwise, we can just say it was wrapped up by the group dream episode featuring Luna, which is what I've been assuming since repeatedly trying and failing to get a better ending for it.
<OOC> Starlight notes that is the opinion Luna holds - that it was wrapped up by that episode.
<OOC> Derpy says, "Right."
<OOC> Dusk nods to Nimble, "That's a good point. RP lines that ponies can play with on their own time."
<OOC> Derpy says, "On that note, here is one such opportunity!"
<OOC> Derpy says, "There is an artifact that has been removed from the official vault in Canterlot--one Mirror of Escalation, the eighth of the magical items crafted by the mage Meadowbrook, as referenced in The Cutie Map."
<OOC> Derpy says, "Any pony who looks into this mirror has the effects of their cutie mark, and the special talent represented by it, amplified!"
<OOC> Dusk says, "Well actually for the Mare Crisium, Ether and I were RPing that a good bit, and the group lucid dream was actually going to by the big RP I wanted to fire up to wrap it up, but then the show came out with nearly the same thing and kind of killed it."
<OOC> Derpy says, "Tonight, I intend to have the wielder of that mirror at large."
<OOC> Derpy says, "There may be some effect that spreads this amplification over Ponyville."
<OOC> Derpy says, "We will have the chance to see what happens when our characters become... ~more~ of what they are."
<OOC> Derpy says, "In some cases, I suspect this will be irritating. In others, dangerous. And in other cases, fun!"
<OOC> Derpy says, "I don't know yet how it gets resolved. That's up to the ponies who choose to be involved in this Nightmare Night plot."
<OOC> Flicka says, "Or even if it will be resolved. Perhaps we shall all be cursed /forever/!"
<OOC> Flicka makes really bad thunder effects.
<OOC> Derpy says, "Anyone have any ideas to throw out? Any interest in playing a special part? So far, all that's happened is that Celestia has informed Marble Memory that the mirror is gone and tasked him with retrieving it."
<OOC> Dusk hides behind Starlight. :-)
<OOC> WaterMane is maybe up for a special part, depending.
<OOC> Starlight meep?
<OOC> Dusk says, "And that is posted online too, Derpy?"
<OOC> Dusk says, "For any pony that wants it as reference."
<OOC> Derpy says, "That would be nifty! Maybe someone who knows the perpetrator... or maybe even the villain themselves (if there is one)>"
<OOC> Derpy says, "Yes, it's on the RP Logs board."
<OOC> Derpy will be playing Celestia, at least for a while. I've wanted to try on her skin.
<OOC> Dusk says, "Ah here we go: equestriamuck.proboards.com/thread/946/artifact-goes-missing."
<OOC> Starlight says, "creepy."
<OOC> Derpy says, "Yep! So. Anyone have anything more to say before we adjourn this meeting and do some roleplay?"
<OOC> Starlight wishes to briefly talk to Derpy in private.
<OOC> WaterMane ponders.
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "I WANT IT ON THE RECORD I'M GOOD AT MY JOB."
<OOC> Derpy says, "Noted!"
<OOC> Flicka gets out her crayons, and scrawls marble's name into the transcription, she follows his name with a smily face.
<OOC> Dusk records Marble's voice saying that onto a phonograph, and gives it to him.
<OOC> Marble_Memory accepts this meaningful gift.
<OOC> Marble_Memory says, "I suppose I should RP Marbsie doing something about this emergency."
<OOC> Derpy says, "All right! I will be looking back through the log of this meeting to absorb everything. I will clean it up and post the log on the forum."
<OOC> Derpy says, "The remaining staff will no doubt discuss some of this issues soon."
Marble_Memory has left.
<OOC> Derpy says, "Since it seems like everyone has said what they need to say... I declare this meeting adjourned!"
<OOC> Derpy says, "Now, who wants to play?"
