It's been quite a while, darlings?! Have you missed me? I've missed you! Like always, tis I, Rarity, Who will ALWAYS partake in the cake, and NEVER care less about the dress! Hello and welcome to another functional, fabulous, and filly filled addition of The fine art of Roleplay etiquette! Tonight's topic?: Pose Point.
Now, before we begin, darling, there IS something I simply must address: the views depicted here are simply my own opinions and not such that of EquestiraMuck's staff, or the hard working Wizards that run our little corner of the web.
Now, that being said, lets jump into our latest topic, pose point, I...
Oh, drat, just one moment. I simply MUST listen to this, just ONE more time...

...ok, Thats better. Now, where were we? Oh, yes Pose Point!
What is Pose Point, you may ask? Well, That is the point, of your poses, darling. Lately, on the muck I've run into this a great many times, and I find it...somewhat distracting. You see, the concept of pose point, is what you bring to the RP. If it's humor, if it's moving the story along, or if it's simply assisting to OTHERS moving the story along, being a back ground character of observing the situation.
But please think about the situation that is taking place before posing in. At times there are SEVERAL ponies in turn, and if your character has no reason to be part of a specific story line, there is nothing wrong with simply -watching- darling! Trying to -shoe horn- your character into an RP that has nothing to do with you, is somewhat...tricky.
I bring up the example of the big "Mr Chuckles" RP that recently occuared in Canterlot Castle. The setting took place, at night, in the castle. While open to every pony, of course, there is a point in which you must think "Why would I BE here"
Why WOULD you be in the castle? Why WOULD you be there at NIGHT? Adding yourself into a situation that already is packed with ponies when you have no reason to be in the scene other than to 'be' in the scene, makes each pose rotation last longer.
If you bring nothing to the story, or if the character currently taking place in an RP that obviously has a set goal, then perhaps it might be easier to simply watch.
When I arrived at the aforementioned RP, I tried to figure out why Rarity might be at Canterlot, at night? Well, Rarity could very well be picking up fabrics. Well sure in Canterlot, but at night? Well...She'd be sleeping...Ok, but say she was at the castle. What would she do when Mr Chuckles attacked? Well it's none of her business, there are castle guards who are trained for that sort of thing specifically. She'd just be getting in the way. Well what if-
And then I realized I didn't NEED to be in the RP in the slightest.
This is simply food for thought, darling. My point, that I'm attempting to make, is if you can figure out a good reason for your character to be in a serious story driven RP, then go for it. If you can't, ask for some assistance. But the POINT is- IT IS ok, and it can be quite fun, just to WATCH as well!
