Fire, so much fire.
A pair of massive red dragons soar over the volcanic crater, one swooping down and unleashing it's angry flame upon the surface and returning to the sky, only for it's comrade to do the same and torching the already burnt earth below. Although when the second one makes it's climb it's belly is pounded by a pair of golden projectiles, firing upward from the surface before a concentrated beam slices along the least-protected area of it's body. It lets loose a pained roar and veers off to recover, leaving just one dragon left.
Scope stands there with horn bright as day, the unicorn panting from both the heat of the area and the dragon blasts but also the exhaustion of keeping his shield up for as long as it has been, his coat & armor burnt in numerous spots. Attached to his armor is the small hourglass he came for, looking like just an ordinary wooden hourglass with the exception of it's blue sand and old-Equestrian text etched within the surface. All he has to do is get out of here and his mission's a success, but as he turns around to face the remaining dragon he gets a face full of fireball against his forcefield.
MEANWHILE, ON THE BRIDGE..
"Report!"
"Forward shields down to thirty percent, port and starboard shields buckling!"
The Captain of this ship.. yeah, it's Scope (Of the Sun Knight variety) holds onto his command chair while the bridge is rocked from that last attack. Once the shaking stops he hops up and gallops across to the helm station which is manned by another Scope, only this one is wearing the armor normally worn by the regular royal guard so for all intensive purposes it could just be another guard pony. "Set course, bearing zero three zero mark two five. Full speed! Tactical, continual fire all weapons!"
The viewscreen shifts and starts to move towards the right with the dragon still remaining in view, another beam firing outward from the top of the screen at the beast followed by trio of torpedoes which hit home on the lizard's side but do no apparent damage as they pound against it's scales much to the Lunar Knight at tactical's content, nose visibly wrinkling with an angry snarl while he continues his assault. The bridge is rocked again as there's an impact against the shields of a prolonged flame attack, this time coming from port. The other dragon has returned.
"Captain! Shields are down to ten percent, we can't take another hit like that one!", cries out the Lunar Knight, doing everything he can to keep them up while over at Navigation there sits a Sunflare staring at his screen and trying to concentrate, carefully tapping in coordinates only to be interrupted by the Captain's yell. "Divert weapon power to shields! Helm, evasive maneuvers, prepare for emergency teleport back to Canterlot and engage once the NAV OFFICER gets the coordinates." The sarastic tone elicits a glare from the only orange/red pony on the bridge who frowns from behind his wide-rimmed glasses. "It's hard enough planning that long a teleport even in ideal conditions, if we're off by only a degree who knows WHERE we end up!"
Saying his piece, Sunny goes back to staring at his screen and lifting a hoof towards helm as he concentrates hard on the target, the other hoof gingerly moving the targeting reticle upon an image of Canterlot. "Steady...", he calls out as he bites his lower lip between his teeth, the cross hair creeping along until it hovers over a particular tower of the palace.. Celestia's quarters, and with a long beep the image goes green and Sunflare gives his hoof a quick pump, the Helmsman taking the signal and slamming his hoof on the trigger, only for the bridge to be rocked hard with an impact.
The unicorn's horn brightens considerably as the spell is cast but at the same time his shields are covered in fire from both dragons but thankfully a flash of gold followed by a clap of thunder gets him out of there, the firebreath of both dragons now hitting the ground and harmlessly burning it. Teleport completed.
Where he ends up though is another story; it's reeeeeal dark. In fact it's much darker than he's used to seeing, an inky blackness with no hint of light coming from anywhere around him and causing him some confusion and a little bit of panic as he fears he's gone completely blind, a fear shared from the bridge crew when they see the completely dark viewscreen, the Lunar Knight attempting to put a bit of light on the situation only to discover that there's not enough power for even that due to it all being taken up by the teleport.
"Wherever we are it's soft and plush, at least that's what the hooves are feeling. Nose indicates a somewhat spicy scent wafting throughout, ears.. nothing. We might be blind AND deaf, an-- Wait," the purple armored stallion blinks at the readings he's getting, glancing up at the viewscreen with a visible frown. "We've touched something firm now with a rounded shape, although it's still got a soft texture to it, almost as if we're touching--"
He's interrupted as the darkness is broken by a white, glowing orb in the middle of the viewer, joined up with another seconds later to indicate that it's definitely a pair of eyes staring back, and above them a horn appears surrounded by a glow of a dark shade of blue. At this the Captain sighs as he flops into his chair and lifts a hoof to rub at his closing eyes, slowly shaking his head with a little grumble.
"..I think we were safer with the dragons."
