It has been a little over one year since Firefly passed away. My thoughts have been on this recently, and so today I wrote a short poem in her memory that I thought that I would share with all of you. I encourage everyone to share something as well, if they feel so inspired.
Firefly,
I wish you were still here.
Every memory, I cherish. Every moment lost, I mourn.
I see your name and still expect you to be there.
Your bowl of mints waits on my desk;
Your last page mails remain unanswered.
I expected to share so many more years with you,
But life seldom fits into our plans.
And so instead
On the next hot summer's night
When the fireflies flash and then fade,
I will remember how you did the same in my life.
And I will pray that the memory of your friendship
Will glow forever in my heart.
