VIRGA
A few days had passed since the discovery and restoration of Celestia. In that time, the Bloom Doll was defeated and everything was righted again. Or so, one might thing. For Virga it was a time of healing and this Pegasi wasn't about to sit around in a bed all day. Rather, he couldn't. With the recent article in the Canterlot Press that exposed the who and the what of his nature, the Pegasus had found it difficult to get around. Reporters flocked everywhere, wanting to know of Celestia's private guard. They ran, they teleported if Unicorn, and flew if Pegasi. Virga couldn't escape it. And today, this retreat brought him to the Library. Quickly he opened the door and quickly he shut it with a resounding SLAM. It was the Palace all over again. Click, he locked the door and dared not move.
TWILIGHT
Twilight_Sparkle blinks a few times. The library is not usually surrounded by newsponies. "Virga, right? I remember you from the other night. Glad to see you're all right. Is there anything I can help you with?" She pauses. "Everyone puts it that way, but it's ending a sentence with a preposition. But it sounds so pretentious to go around saying 'is there anything with which I can help you?' I mean, I'm not Celestia. SHE can pull that off."
VIRGA
The Pegasi lightly panted. He'd done it, thrown off the reporters. They wouldn't look for something like him in a quiet, stuffy library, a place that required silence. He nearly froze once Twilight spoke, fearing that she was another reporter. No, no, Virga--it was Twilight, Celestia's student whom he'd never met before the other night. "Virga de Glaciel, dear Royal Student, yes." He backed away from the door and oh-so-slowly turned to face the Purplecorn. "Asylum...sanctity...refuge...harborage...I'm endlessly pursued by the Press even since that article."
TWILGHT
Twilight_Sparkle nods, sighing a little. "I know how that is, believe me! After Nightmare Moon, and all over again after Discord. It was hard to find a quiet moment! They move on quicker than you'd think, though. Media attention burns bright, but it burns fast." Since her name hasn't been spoken yet in the conversation, she offers, "Twilight Sparkle. Call me Twilight."
VIRGA
Knock, Knock, Knock. "Baltimare Gizette, I'm here to ask if you've seen a dark pegasus..." came a muffled voice. Virga's ears angled back to Twilght, listening. "They didn't see me come in...only saw me run this way," he whispered. And thus, he kept his voice low for any one of those reporters could be a unicorn, and could likely use some spell to drop eaves. "Nice to formally greet you, Twilight. In my case, its being present in the Palace since the Summer Sun Celebration despite being of the Crystal Empire..."
TWILGHT
Twilight_Sparkle nods. "Hang on, I've got this." She opens the door. "He went that way!" she gestures frantically with a hoof. "If you hurry you might still catch him! I heard him say as he streaked past me that he was going to start going really slow soon, so you have a good chance." She closes the door again, and winks.
VIRGA
Virga made himself as small as possible when she opened the door, though he had full confidence--she was Celestia's student after all--he'd shove them off. The poor Pegasi's legs shook as soon as the horde left for its fruitless conquest, and he lay on the floor to further catch his breath. "Much thanks, Twilight," he said. "If you ever need something of the Palace and others are too busy, just send me a letter. Not much is happening now with everything...back to normal."
TWILGHT
Twilight_Sparkle smiles. "It must be nice. There's always a sense around here, too, right after an adventure ends, where everything's calm and everypony is just sort of remembering how *nice* things are when they're normal." She looks out the window. "You'd better stay put at least a few minutes, until the coast is clear. Can I get you anything? Tea, or whatever's your preference?"
VIRGA
Virga's ears raised when she mentioned tea. He did enjoy a good tea, especially if it was potentially new, a taste he hadn't experienced. He was in no rush today, partially. The only rush he had was fleeing reporters, but other than that he had no agenda and no mission. Everypony was stressed, and the Palace attitude was laid back. "Oh, thank you much," he said. "I've no preference on tea. In fact, surprise me on the flavor. I'm sure new kinds have been made in the last thousand years."
TWILGHT
Twilight_Sparkle nods. "Probably! I love talking to the princesses about things back then...I feel like by understanding where ponies have been, I know a lot more about where we're going." Her telekinesis is effortless; the tea kettle, teapot, and cups whisk themselves about in the kitchen without Twilight even having to glance in their direction. At long last, two cups of mango ceylon green tea whisk themselves over. "What DO you make of us moderns?"
VIRGA
Virga watched as she magicked the tea wares. Seeing such things was hardly new to him, but it had been so long since he saw a Unicorn work in ways that were not trying to kill him. His nosed twitched and he perked even more at that new, wonderful scent. "Oh, that's a mix I've not seen," he said as the tea settled itself before him. "You're the first to ask me what I see in moderns. More peace, more willingness to understand. You see, when I say I'm from the Empire, I'm from a very outer lying province called Equephel. While not fallen under the curse of King Sombra, it was also not in your history books. The prosperity you know here did not exist after he took control, nor after his banishment."
TWILIGHT
Twilight_Sparkle nods, tilting her head She actually looks enraptured; history, particularly off-the-books history, is a passion of hers. She sips her tea, ears perked high, listening.
VIRGA
Virga took a few seconds for his first sip of Mango Ceylon Tea, which was a rather pleasing tea, so delectable as its scent. It was so good it put a smile on his muzzle very similar to the smiles on cursed Crystal Ponies once the Empire was restored. "This is marvelous tea, Twilight!" he said. "I believe it's now my favorite." He peered up at her, the ears, her intent. She wanted to know about Equephel, no doubt. "Ah yes...perhaps you'd could be the one to write the book on Equephel if that is what you'd seek?"
TWILIGHT
A wide smile spreads across the violet unicorn's face. "I'd LOVE to, you know! An article, at LEAST, I know I can make time for. And it's a dark spot in our history. There are a LOT of those, that far back, which is strange when you consider there are a handful of ponies around, prominent ones, for whom that's within living memory."
VIRGA
Virga grinned this time. In this he saw a chance; a chance for a piece of history to be reclaimed and a chance for himself. "A series of interviews would help you with it," he said. "You'll be able to fill an empty stop and perhaps it could help feed the frenzy outside." And, he sipped his tea, which again brought that same Crystal Smile. "Have your quill and parchment? I'll go ahead and give you some starter information if you like."
TWILIGHT
Twilight_Sparkle grins. "I sometimes make Spike do my transcribing! But he's off with Gilda. She takes him flying. I never thought I'd say this about that gryphon, but she's sweet with Spike." Her horn gloes, and a parchment and quill spring to life, positioning themselves beside Twilight. The unicorn says aloud, as the pen scribbles it elegantly on the page, "Interview with Virga. Installment 1."
VIRGA
"I'm not familiar with Gilda," he said, "but if your dragon friend is able to get out and enjoy himself, it is good." He sipped his tea again and thought for a moment. "Installment 1," he repeated, crossing his forelegs to begin. "Equephel was an old colony, specializing in the mining of gems highly receptive to magical use. It came to be 1,200 years ago and for 150 years it constantly dealt with outside powers trying to overtake and conquer. It was then the Crystal Empire intervened and formally made Equephel one of its gem-producing provinces. I was born after that period, with full Imperial citizenship."
TWILIGHT
Twilight_Sparkle nods, the pen scratching the words down. Twilight's magic writing is considerably better than her mouthwriting--just one of the wonderful things about becoming good at magic.
VIRGA
Virga had to think hard where to go next with it. There wasn't a lot to say unless Twilight wanted a lot of info, but he was also trying to balance between his own life and that of Equephel's existence. "Let's see," he said. "I could go on and talk about myself or Equephel's shifting during the rise and take over of King Sombre..."
