Today, Rarity is cheerfully bouncing around her boutique. After her trip to Manehatten, the fashionsta is simply BUZZING with ideas and winning first prize in Fashion Week has her absolutely trembling. Not ONLY has her designs been placed all over the Manehatten, but in stores as far as Saddle Arabia. Due to all of this; miss Rarity has been been keenly exprimenting with new fabrics and magic...
( And new lessons with family! Specifically Sweetie Belle. The door swings open and Sweetie's on the doorstep. "Hey Rarity! Rarity!" she calls out. Of course that somehow dislodges the snow atop her roof and a pile of it lands on Sweetie, making her a snowpile with eyes. They blink a few times, then the snow pile says "You're back!" )
Rarity hmmhmmhmms as she trots around the boutique. "Sweetie Belle!" She announces, simply enough before, drifting back and forth around her fabrics. "You Mustn'y touch anything, but I am absolutely tickled you're here! YOU, dear sister, are to be the first to sample my brand me magic wear for unicorns! It is to be fit, and functional, enchanted by a unicorn's specific magical talents! Won't that be fun!? "She beams. Thats right Sweetie! Living model for all of Rarity's clothing for your stay! Joy!
The snowpile has shaken the snow off and Sweetie's already inside, messing around with some seamstresses tape, measuring round one of her legs randomly. "Mmm?" she says and looks over. "I get to help you with your work??" she exclaims super cheerily.
Rarity nods her head. "Yes! It's very very simple. All you need do, is stand perfectly still. "She grins warmly. "You think you can do that, darling? Then, I'm going to take your picture, and send a few off to my friends in Clothes Horse Magazine! YOU are going to be the most darling little model!" She gasps quietly. "Oh...what I would do to be in your hooves at that age...
Sweetie_Belle beams "I can! I mean I had a milkshake or two before coming over here so I'm a /little/ jittery," she states, vibrating a moment before stopping and standing still as she can. "Yay! I can be a model and get my cutiemark in Modeling. I'm not sure what that would look like. Rarity, what would a modeling cutie mark look like?"
Rarity ponders that for a moment. "...HMmm...Proooobably spotlights. "She muses, before plucking the first piece of her ensemble; A small white cap, very reminiscent of a sailor's hat. It's also glowing, so there's that too. "These spells I've been working with are VERY complex. I have my doubts ANYpony is going to be able to steal THESE designs. "She huffs. "Now, Sweetie, sit still, and let me place this juuuuuuuust so. "The unicorn announces, holding out the cap to rest daintily across one of Sweetie's ears.
Sweetie's briefly over at a table with crayons, already somehow, sketching out what she'd look like with a spotlighty cutie mark. It's drawn in crayon obviously. She's sitting still at the very least. Her ear twitches, veeeery lightly. Just a fidget, but the rest of her remains still.
Rarity plants the cap firmly on her sisters head, and turns for the next peice of the outfit. A little white vest with blue trim, which also glows faintly. "Now, THIS is going to win me Fashionista of the year on in Bridle Brag's Maga-" She frowns, twisting about. "Sweetie Belle? SWEETIE BELLE! "She shouts. "I asked you to do ONE thing! Where have you gone? ARRGGHHhhh...Sisters..."
There's a blank blinking from Sweetie. She says, "I didn't do anything! Ok, maybe I wiggled my ear a little, but I didn't think that matters. Does it? Does the hat look silly?" She just assumes she's commited a fashion crime so bad her sister's treating it as if she's not there.
Rarity shrieks when that voice comes out of nowhere. "S, Sweetie Belle? "She squeaks, reaching out a hoof to poke at the place her sister just was. "S, Sweetie Belle? Oh. Oh no. OH-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-nooooo this is not happening. Sweetie Belle? A, are you there? No. No this can't be right!
Sweetie_Belle squints, "Does it look that bad?" Sweetie asks, moving her ear a little, to adjust the hat before making a soft little 'oof' sound as she's poked at. "Hey," she says, "I'm ticklish." She hops a little bit, "I'm right here, wait...what's wrong? Can't you see me? Am... Am I a ghost?"
Rarity just sighs. It's going to be one of THOSE days. "Alright, Sweetie Belle, I, I don't think you're a ghost, dear, but I CAN'T see you, no. Now, I'm sure it's simply a temporary side effect of wearing the cap, so if you'll just take it off, I'll see about fixing that unfortunate little error. "She stammers nervously. She'd REALLY like one of her magical designs to not have an unfortunate catastrophe EVERYtime she puts it onto another pony...
Sweetie_Belle blinks a little bit. "I'm ... invisible? Do I have an invisibility cutie mark??" she asks quickly. There's a shuffling sound, obviously she's walking in circles to see. "Oh... I can't tell," she says, sadly. "Oh, hey, what happens when I pick something up?" she asks, picking her crayon up and moving it around a little.
Rarity watches in awe at the crayon being lifted into the air on it's own, before she shakes her head with a nervous squeak. "N, now now, Sweetie, Erm...just, give me the hat, back. "She says reaching out for...ok, Sweetie's moved. Right. "Errm, Sweetie, where have you gone? Sweetie? I just need the hat, I think, and we'll get you back to being visible in no time!"
Sweetie_Belle is halfway around the room. One of the manniquins moves a bit on its own. "Hi Rarity! I'm your dress doll!" Then another moment later and the shears float about, but settle down. She's told not to run with scissors! Of course then a bolt of fabric falls and ends up wrapping around something invisible, which apparently spins to more tightly bind itself in. "Uh...help?"
Rarity groans quietly and rolls her head. At least she can SEE the little... "Hold still..."Rarity sighs, trotting over towards one of the ponyquins to set it back upright, then over towards the floating bolt of fabric. "Just, hold still..."She grumbles, trying to figure out which end is Sweetie's head so she can get to work on fixing her newest fashion. What is fashion is nopony can see your work?! UGH, Horrible!!
"Hey, that's my tail," Sweetie says. She wiggles about, probably poking her sister with her horn as she tries to get the right angle, and wiggle free, but that just makes the fabric tighter. She wobbles some and makes a soft sound, "This is some good fabric," she notes, unable to free herself.
Rarity would tickle the little Hooligan into submission if she could, but she can't, as such, see said hooligan. She immediately, moves to Sweetie's other end, to grasp at her ...back...head...horn...HAT! AHA! She tugs it off with a yank and finds it immediately becomes visable in her hooves...but Sweetie does not. "...Smashing. "She says flatly, looking at her invisible sister with a groan. "Alright, so, it wasn't the hat...
Tweed_Patches has arrived.
"Ok, so I'm visible now," Sweetie says as the hat's removed. She wiggles about in the fabric, managing a hoof free, before realizing she can't see herself. She blinks twice, eyes widening (Though still, invisible) then, "I /AM/ a ghost!! I didn't even get my cuuu-teeee-maahaahhahrrrrk," she cries out. Ok so it's not a stretch to believe the two are related.
Rarity laughs nervously. Don't panic. That's the first rule. Do. Not. Panic. "No no no , Darling, I assure you, you are NOT a ghost. I do NOT have a haunted boutique!! I'd get no customers! YOU ARE NOT A GHOST! J, just invisible, f, for the time being! Not to worry! We'll simply pop over to the magic research facility, down the street and have you good as new in practically no time!" She announces with a sheepish grin.
"You don't sound so sure of that," says Sweetie, surprisingly astute. She wiggles the invisible hoof, "How'd I get invisible? You took the hat off! Now I won't be able to tell if I ever get a cutie mark. Diamond Tiara will laugh at me, if she can find me."
Rarity draws in a deep breath. "You're going to be FINE, Sweetie Belle. I'm SURE I can make you UNinvisible! I made you invisible after all! Twilight isn't the ONLY mare around good with magic, after all. NOw, erm, just, uh, just sit tight, and I'll reverse this in just a moment. "She explains, trying to unwrap her sister from the fabrics that hold her bound.
"Twilight's a Princess!" the cloth responds before finally falling away from the invisible pony. She manages to get out somehow. "How'd you even do this? This is like the worst thing ever," She says, "I won't be able to go to school, and the bullies will...actually I guess they can't make fun of me." She's pondering, "Actually..." she says, apparently her slow-working mind coming up with some positive sides to being invisible.
Rarity sees this coming, and stomps a hoof. "No, Sweetie Belle, NO! Whatever you are pondering, you shant be doing it! You will sit here, whilst I figure out a way to make you UNINVISIBLE. I don't need the entire TOWN knowing Rarity accidently currrrrrsssaaahahaha, I mean, cast a spell...incorrec- Listen, just, wait for me to fix this, ok, Sweetie?" She grins, nervously.
Tweed_Patches doesn't quite slink in. It's difficult to slink into a building with a door on the bell, but with the almost guilty expression that he wears - not to mention the tattled blazer that he's wearing - as he arrives slink is appropriate enough. Once inside he nudges the door shut behind himself with a hoof and looks around, perhaps about to say something, but the spectacle of the invisible filly leaves him wordless, so he stands there, blinking staring.
"What? I wasn't pondering anything!" Sweetie says, less than honestly. "I just thought I'd go out for a minute," she says, footsteps going toward the door, "Maybe see how Diamond Tiara's doing." She's going to haunt Diamond Tiara. That'll end badly, and probably with fire. She nearly runs into the new pony, blinks a few times and says, "Hi!" The words come from about two feet in front of him.
Rarity dive tackles towards her sist- THUMP. ...OK. It's time to panic. "Not. One. Word. "The fashionista hisses to...erm...herself. She smiles. *DING* "Hello, welcome to the Carousel Boutique, And I'm sorry we're closed! Thanks for dropping by!" *SQUEEGRIN* "I'm sorry, I'm just working, on...a...a....a....um..."Rarity sputters, wildly groping infront of her in the air. "My...um..my......veeeeentrioquism! Yes! Hahaha, girl, can't have too many skills in this busy day and age, right? Hahahaha.."
Tweed_Patches blinks a few times more, fumbling for his reading glasses as the air addresses him, "I say!" He leans in a little closer, staring at the air where the voice came from, "That's a neat trick! Did you manage it yourself, or did your..." He glances at Rarity, then back, taking a guess "Your fri - Oh! I say!" He takes a few steps back, blinking a few times more as Rarity tackles her sister, "Ah! Ventriloquism." He nods, approvingly, "Always nice to have a party piece on hand, what? Pity about you being closed though. Was looking for somepony to mend my poor jacket." He tugs on a grey flannel lapel, "Is there somepony else you could, er, recommend?"
Sweetie_Belle zips about. "S-sorry," she says, then blinks and shuts her yap. She seees the door's closed and tries to think of other ways to get away. Backing up a few steps, she bumps into one of the dress forms and making it wobble, "'scuse me," she tells it before putting hooves over her mouth again.
Rarity's ears perk. What? "What? No! Nononono, hahahah, if it's just a jacket mend, I could gladly- "She stops when she hears Sweetie's squeaky voice again- and turns in time to see the ponyquin wobble, wobble, then topple over. Ok. You can do this Rarity. This is not a problem. "You know, I, ca, I can take that, jacket for you. Ju, just repairs, right? Just a touch up? A simple mending job will fix that, no problem at all!" She sputters.
Tweed_Patches looks absolutely delighted, "Two voice at once!" He taps a hoof politely on the floor, "AND the Ponyquin. I didn't even see your horn glow! Good show!" He nods then, sitting back tugging the jacket off, "Quite, quite. Just mend it where it needs mending. Had a bit of a - uh - a rough time in the woods, what?" Indeed the jacket is torn here and there, snagged on brambles and brush, but really that's the least of its problems. Moth holes, ink stains on the cuffs, tea stains on the lapels, other nameless stains here and there, and then the cut - it's a relic, but not quite enough of a relic to have come back in again as 'vintage'
Sweetie_Belle moves away from the Ponyquin and this time bumps into a table. "Ow," she says, knocking a couple of spools of thread off which roll off in random directions. Surely that won't come back. She opens her mouth to say 'Sorry' but quickly shuts it. Of course she does suddenly have to sneeze. "Ah-Cheee" she manages out, in a little squeaky sneeze.
Rarity groans quietly and as an aside... "You. Are. Invisible. Not. Blind." Rarity utters under her breath through grit teeth when the table wobbles, then gasps, and gives her daintiest sneeze when she takes the jacket from Tweed. "Ahhaha, oh, this is really quite...erm...Well this jacket has quite a bit of character doesn't it? I shall gladly patch it up for you, darling! "She explains, giving a bright smile. *Squee* nowgetoutnowgetoutnowgetout..."
Tweed_Patches stands up on the tips of his hooves, looking over Rarity towards the wobbling table, squinting through his reading glasses, "Hum." He's about to offer an observation, make a comment on the sounds of hooves on the floor, but the comment on his jacket brings his attention back, "Oh? You think so? I'm glad to hear it! It's my best one, and I got SUCH a deal on it. Practically given away." He beams, still proud of his bargain, "I was worried when I came in; most ponies I take it to for mending try to sell me a new one, but it seems so WASTEFUL to give up a garment that has so much life left in it, what?" He smiles even warmer, having, evidently, found a kindred spirit, "I shan't bother you any more. If you can have it shipped to the university when it's done, that'd be spiffing."
Thinking she'll just move away from anything distracting, Sweetie takes three steps, front right hoof finds one spool of thread, back left finds the other. She slips, skidding forward a few lengths spinning by all three ponyquins, making then rotate around a few times, then into a bolt of fabric. Her flailing doesn't help, but she somehow manages to launch herself forward, fabric flapping about in a more... ghostly fashion. Well, ghostly-NightmareNight Costume fashion at the least. "Whoaoaaaaaa!"
Rarity looks the jacket over and shakes her head. Ick. "N, no no of course not! This...well this is a CLASSIC peice! Absolutely a joy to restore! I'll get to work on it right- " She trails off, staring at the sudden catastrophe exploding from behind her in the boutique. "...I'm sorry, did I mention we're closed?"
Tweed_Patches is only half attending to Rarity, his eyes squinted, his mouth hanging half open as he watches the 'supernatural' activity with a look of incredulity, "Uh..." He points at the 'ghost' you know, a little lunar caustic mixed distilled into aqua fortis makes a quite nice ghost repel - er - oh! Closed? Well, terribly sorry to have bothered you! Thanks all the more for taking work in, in spite of that, Miss...?"
Sweetie_Belle picks herself up, the sheet fluttering about a bit as she runs around, "Ahh it's eating me Rarity!" the little pony exclaims. She's under the sheet so maybe just looks like she's in a silly costume. She ends up darting past her sister and running into the back somewhere.
Rarity just sighs and squeezes her eyes shut, listening to the increasingly alarming sounds coming from the boutique behind her. "Rarity. " She says quietly. "I'm...Rarity." And she wishes she could claim that invisible fillies and the destruction of her boutique could match her namesake-but it's just another day in Ponyville.
