As music pours out from the studio near the lake once more, Quasar stands within the threshold of the doorway as he watches DJ Vinyl Scratch and her best friend Medley pour through the lyrics on a new track the pair are putting together for a Canterlot festival. He is dressed in a brown vest with a matching tie, as well as his usual spectacles settled over the bridge of his nose.
Scribbled down in his note book is a simple sentence: Hypothesis: Skill Sets can be mimicked within a set proximity.
As he steps closer towards the studio, he peeks over the large control panel as he listens to the pair of pop starlets battle back and forth with their lyrics, creating a beautiful harmony of pin point accuracy.
".. here goes nothing.." The young academic prodigy murmurs under his breath as he takes in a deep breath, then tries to force his magic out as if one was squeezing an orange. His cheeks puff out and his teeth grit. There is a tiny gold sparkle at the end of his horn, followed by a bright flash of light as the world rushes past his eyes.
The young colt's eyes dilate into thin pin-pricks, ears flushed forward and twitching. Opening his mouth, he starts to sing, his voice mingling perfectly with the other two mares, much to their surprise and attention,
"I have a spirit indestructible!
A heart that loving was made for -
A body that's a miracle --- "
His voice cuts out as the music stops, the two singers staring at him with eyes wide. It is the emerald colored pegasus that steps out of the room first, head tilted to the side. "Hey kid, that was amazing! Can you do that again?"
With a squeak in his voice, Quasar attempts the lyrics again, but this time the range is so far off that it is embarrassing. Medley even winces, gritting her teeth. "Woah, woah, where's the voice we were just listeni-- hey, where you going?!"
The door is flung open as Quasar bolts out of the music studio. Instead of looking embarrassed, he is laughing wildly, leaping and bounding through the short cropped grass of the meadow that leads to the lake.
"It works! It works! This is /awesome/." He cries out as he flops down to his back to stare up at the sun in the sky, flopping a hoof over his face.
Taking out his journal once again, he starts to scribble down: Sample test proved successful. Range of skills can be mimicked and repeated within distance of ten feet and only within activation.
After another soft laughs, he hugs the journal to his chest tightly.
".. if mom finds out, she'd kill me."
